Today I ........ dropped off the red FSI to a local mechanic (not my usual one, he was too busy).
They are taking the engine out ready for the replacement engine. That is currently in the “donor” car. On Saturday they collect the donor car and remove the engine and gearbox ready to put the engine into the red FSI. I have asked them to fit a new clutch kit and canbelt kit (might as well while it is out of the car.

So that will resolve the weak spot on the red FSI (the engine) and it should now be a really good car.

That means I will have an FSI gearbox available so, which will be advertised on the marketplace.

What can I say, thank you doesn't come close....a true gent and a great team mate too. A massive thank you to you both.
Its a nice change to meet a genuine member of a club who has a passion for what he does...thank you, and we look forward to seeing you both soon, I owe you a few brews!!!!!?

thats the norm with the A2 Simon :)

I know but one day it will catch me out! I actually booked the MOT a few weeks early because it's still lumpy in cold weather so I half suspected that the tester would pick it up on emissions but it was fine.

Simon.

...enjoyed the opensky, but not as much as someone else

... fitted new rear dampers (Bilstein B4's) to the TDI for the princely sum of £36! :) Forty minutes a side though would have been faster had I put the top dust cap back on before remounting the dampers(I'd love to say I only did that once!). Car felt slightly smoother on my pizza oven delivery run to West Lothian though it's the fronts that will make the difference, they're noisy.
Fronts next once they've arrived and I pluck up the courage to use the spring compression tools. :D

Today I took a SEVEN HOUR train journey (thanks to a delay and a cancellation!!!) but the trip was worth it, to get the top spec A2 I just bought.
It does need a few minor things resolved and needs a bit of TLC, but it woulkd be easier to say the factory options that it DOESN'T have than ton list what it does have.

It doesn't have lumbar, a rear power socket, sports seats, mudflaps and to be honest I can't think of much else it doesn't have.
I knew about most of the options, but it also has the passenger Air bag switch.

Some of the more rare options on it include BOSE, Sideguard and a factory tow bar.

It was a 4 hour drive back (non-Stop) and so a total journey time of 11 hours. (but worth it)

I will post pictures when I get chance.

Plans? Swap the heated dark grey seats out and fit Black leather and all black trim. (possibly TT Mk 1 heated black leather fronts
I am not going OTT on the wheels, but I am fitting my favourite Audi wheels, the S3 AVus wheels, they really suit black paint and I had them on one of my previous A2s (Below)

Just think of the “smiles per gallon” your going to have out of the new one.. great buy Steve looking forward to seeing it get the Steve B treatment.

Tonight I ...... Found the original sales invoice for this TDI, it was a couple of pounds short of £25,000 and that was 17 years ago!!!

Steve B

Jeez that was a LOT of money back in 2001. It's a lot for a new car even by today's standards.
