Top bloke and top job done, amazing amount of A2 knowledge, you make it look too easy Tom!

  3. Auto Locking - Check
  4. Beep on Lock - Check
  5. Happy Chap = Check :)

I think so from what Tom said!

I like my #4. It's stopped me walking away a couple of times and the service flap's been open. It's also a sign of being 'Timmused'

A2 came out of the garage at teh weekend. 24 hours later was back in. This time with the windows open, I don't like even mild mould infestations...

Today I.......... Went to the bodyshop to explain where I want the A2 cut in half, ready for the trailer project (It could not be saved and put back on the road unfortunately, so I am giving it an alternative life as a trailer.

This is it ready for the chop.

The cut will be just in front of the B pillar (to help maintain the strength)
An A frame from a (braked) trailer will be grafter on the chassis.

The cutting and grafting is not that complicated, it is the building of the front to cover the opening. I want this to be shaped rather than just a flat sheet.

But while I was there I had a good look at the A2 pickup project they are working on.

They were amazed that when they cut the rar of the roof off the whole car was trotally solid and not floppy in the least, The door gaps etc. were perfect and the doors closed as they would normally.
They are welding up the rear bdoors as you can see and a neat job they are doing of it.

Well not today, but recently I read a old thread that made me smile.

What the thread was about does not matter, just some problem with a member's A2. Half a dozen posts later of the usual help/advice/suggestions a consensus of opinion was reached. The consensus was to book it in with Audi they will do it under warranty.

How times change.

Good idea and I proposed it to Timmus when he visited. It was just a tad too small for him but it would have been ideal for his many a2 road trips to install his magic trickery.

I suggested shortening his legs a bit but that is one modification he won’t do !!!

It's good to see the progress being made on the A2 pickup too. I wonder whether the owner is planning to do an exact replica of the one Audi did.

I think they own it themselves but I am not sure. They don’t seem to be in any hurry and they do have a few of their own projects on the go. They are doing a thorough job too, they plan to use the hinges from a current model Mini and also the remote latching of the tailgate using the same approach.
I like the way they work and the passion they have for their work. Very helpful and flexible.

I am moving......and in that connection, I inspected the underground parking connected to the apartmentcomplex to see if there were any interesting cars. I was quite happily surprised when I saw another A2 in there. On top of that it was a blue Colour Storm. Its not a big underground garage, only 18 cars. It seemed to be in very good condition, under all the salty dirt. I think I have to put a note on the windscreen when I move in, so that I could have a Colour Storm chat with the owner, who most probably own the TT beside the A2 as well.

I was going to bid on that A2. But the hassle of unloading it off the trailer put me off. Would be interested to know the work required to put it back on the road.

Unfortunately this ones to far gone as the suspension clapsing has smashed the sump and also ripped the drive shaft out of the box..

I was hoping to keep the engine and box as a spare but it’s knackered also !!

Hmm not as bad as I thought. The rest of it looked straight enough.
