Today I.....

I would swap A2Sams car body with mine any day pre-spray, very intrigued as to what's coming !
Sorry to confuse the full tank was 77.9mpg, but did include a trip into the city. The trip was 87mpg,still on two snowtyres:rolleyes:

Lol, she was beautiful, but on close inspection, there was a scratch or dent in each panel... So, we’ve been picking and choosing with the best body panels from Steve’s stock-pile.

Have found her new name in doing so... Meet “Frankie” :)

I was married at 18 but I am not recommending it!!!! (Getting married to young I mean).

Getting married to the right woman is truly amazing and I am lucky to be married to Joan. 38 years together and she still puts up with me!!!!
But we are digressing ever so slightly. Not entirely though because thanks to Joan I discovered and grew my A2 addiction.
Lol

Today I …………… temporarily fitted my wireless reversing camera
The kit was mega cheap so I am not suggesting it as an option that people will want to fit but it is an interesting little kit.
The fact that the camera is wireless means it is easier to fit (no carpet removal and long wires front to back.
BUT it has a HUGE advantage in my case, for the trailer!!!

When the trailer is hitched up it completely blocks out my rear view mirror. So I will be fitting the reversing camera in the tailgate of the trailer. Instead of connecting it to the reversing light circuit to power it on and off I will be connecting it to a ignition live so that the screen will be showing me what I would have seen in my rear view mirror if the trailer was not hitched.

This will help to see who is behind when I am driving and a huge help when reversing the trailer.

At £27 for the kit it is worth a try. In fact I bought TWO kits so that I have two cameras, one that kicks in when I have the trailer on and the other one just on my car acting as a reversing camera. I can switch between the two automatically (I have mounted a switch in the boot for the trailer lights relay anyway and so when I turn that on it turns off my reversing camera in the car and connects the trailer camera to the ignition live.

It is only mounted temporarily while I check it all out. The plan is to hide the wiring for the screen by having a tiny hole on top of the dashboard underneath the screen (one that can be hidden when the kit is removed ever.

I think I will try to just use the camera and receiver and connect it into the Audi Navigator plus somehow, for a cleaner install?

Apart from the concern about the kit being "too cheap" it seems to work fine and the screen folds down and so it does not look too bad when not in use.

Some pictures of the temporary installation.

Finally got rid of the FSI shell that had been using up too much space on the drive, so finally able to put the fleet on the driveway without the neighbours complaining :)

it would confuse the hell out of me to have it on whilst trying to reverse the trailer :)

Perhaps, but being able to see what is directly behind the trailer before I start reversing is a bonus, as for manoeuvring the trailer, yes it can be confusing but I am sure I will get used to it and I only need look at the screen when I want to check.

Cheers

... stripped NSR drum on Cheryl's TDI to check why the handbrake was so high(already heavily adjusted inside). I failed, further investigation of cables (replaced while previous owner had it) required. I did find a broken spring though, bit too handy having another A2 sport in the drive!

Over the weekend I fitted a replacement NSR wheel-arch (mucky job!), mudflaps and TT alloys. The car is sitting a bit low at the back in this pic due to the old SE alloys, heavy iron car ramps and trolley jack all being inside it. I believe 'pooping elk' was the name suggested for that stance on another thread? :D

Hekos added also. These came with plastic clips, loads of them - 2 each for the rears, 3 each for the fronts. Now to see how long they will stay there!

This is now my favourite picture of 'Doodlebug' with the stormy sky in the background (looked scary but turned out to be just a very light shower).
