Had a go at replacing my climate panel. Managed to get the radio out, but couldn't really see that the climate was going to come out and I think I need to buy a torch to be able to see in there properly.
Managed to get the radio in so it will work, but it's sticking out now and even with my foot against it, it wouldn't budge so I think I'll just take it to my garage and get him to do it all and rescan to check if I have any more codes, now I've sorted the cat

The climate panel is only held in with 4 little spring clips, with the radio out grab the exposed top of the climate and give it a sharp pull. If that doesn't work CAREFULLY use a broad flat blade and insert into the vertical end of the panel and gently lever being careful not to scratch or damage the consol. Open the ashtray and try levering the bottom of the climate panel from there. Your radio is probably sticking out because the wiring plugs have not been pushed out of the way as the radio slides in,ironically with the climate out you can position the radio wiring as it gets located. Hope this is a help.

Surely you have overlooked the cubby will prohibit any access from an empty ashtray aperture. I would not recommend trying to lever anything out at the front, too much danger of lever slipping and causes nasty gouge or breaking the edge, you often see this on pictures in ads. Fingers at the back, not on any connector, and pull. Personally I would remove cubby (after opening ashtray) which can also be stubborn and now hand in cubby void, fingers round back and pull.

Teresa, sorry I missed why the climate has too come?

The climate panel on Double Din stereos is notoriously difficult to remove, it requires a heavy pull with at least two hands. I'm forever worried I will break them when I pull double din panels out.

I've done the same today - in the process of trying to get my key fob to open the doors again!

I've noticed sat here with the key in the ignition for a while that the climate control seems to be going through some sort of recalibration as well - or does it just always do that when you sit with the ignition on?

I cheated and used a memory saver.

You my friend are a mind reader. However that was last weekends news! Today was 1.4, red heated leather, 90% FASH, drives amazing!

Regards

James

Well, I'm glad it went to somebody who will appreciate it and look after it. I was a bit pee'd off with the seller though, as they kept me stringing along for ages :(

I've just returned home from visiting my Daughter in Bury St Edmunds. A remarkable journey with more than half of it covering roadworks and 5o mph speed restrictions! I covered the 232 miles non-stop in 4hs 30 mins and my average fuel comsumption was 67.2 MPG. Amazing! Yes, I really didn't stop once!

David

Welcome to the A14. I live just east of BSE, I work in Cambridge and my wife lives in Cumbria. The joy of the roadworks. To get to work without standing in queues for 45 mins, I have to arrive c7-15am.
Impressive mileage figure, tho'. That's what a 50mph speed limit will do!

Going there on Saturday, it was closed between J26 and J29! The diversion took 35 minutes of stop-start! At one point with the perpetual 50 MPH (I can just pull it in 5th gear), my MPG was just under 70 MPG! I went to Lavenham, today. WHAT a place that is!

Yes, I'm double din so no chubby . I suspect that I probably won't be strong enough, but I may have another go next weekend, when I've got myself a torch.
It's coming out as all the buttons are worn and I've got a good condition one to replace it with from A2 Steve . Then got to have a go at the headlight switch ?

head light switch is really easy compared to the climate

Push the rotating part of the switch forward (in) and at the same time turn it to between off and side lights, it should stop mid way. Then pull the switch out (backwards). It should just slip out really easily. Once out disconnect the looms, then re connect to the new switch and push and turn the new switch to the half way between off and side lights, then push the switch into the dash, once in place, turn the switch to the off position. Job done. Oh then have a nice glass of wine and look at you handywork

Cheers,
Paul
