Today I.....

HI TOM JUST SEEN POST SO YOU CAN PUT 2 STROKE OIL IN WITH YOUR DIESEL.
Hi Jonross,

Yes, you can mix a small amount of 2-stroke oil with the diesel. It results in smoother running, lubricates the fuel injectors, acts as a detergent and reduces carbon deposits building up in the combustion chambers, on the injector tips, etc. There's a lot to read about it in this thread...

To summarise, you shouldn't just put any 2-stroke oil in the tank. It has to be of a specific formulation.

API TC, ISO L-EGC, JASO FC.

If you find one that conforms to ISO L-EGB or EGD, it is not suitable.

It needs to be put into the tank at a ratio of 1:150. So, for every 15 litres of diesel, you need 100ml of 2-stroke oil.

Cheers,

Tom

Interesting I'd always factored in 250ml per 42 litre tank but its really 280ml?

Anything between 1:150 and 1:200 is fine, so 250ml into the larger fuel tank is all good. I use the strongest recommended ratio, which means 200ml into the smaller tank. 200ml and 250ml dosing bottles are easy to find on eBay, whereas a 280ml bottle isn't! :)

So this would be suitable.

and one of these.

If you are doing the huge job that is changing the wishbone, it would be amiss not to.

I'm due at WOM on Friday and realised I didn't consider the bushing - what part / area is this and I'll need to look into this pronto :)

We talking about 8Z0407182C ?

I'm assuming new control arms though come with a new bush?

Yes, that type of Shell Advance 2-stroke oil does conform to the required spec'. In fact, I've used this stuff many times before. However, at £15.50 per litre, it's extremely expensive. You can usually find it at about £9 per litre.

Cheers,

Tom

Did you use all 42 litres?
The additive should be calculated based on the amount of fuel you put in the tank, most of my fill ups from empty are actually 39ltr's. I think you can save a little bit of the planet and use less 2 stroke ;)

Yes, the QH cast arms we purchased have that bush prefitted.

Hi David... The QS2043 equivalent part number is 8Z0407152J? I'm beginning to doubt as all references I can find related to petrol models.

edit: I do note that Febi for one do the same part to cover all so is it the case that the QH bush is the same?
