Today I.....

Good on you Alex, sounds like a difficult trip to achieve those sorts of figures.

I'm really struggling to lift the average for my current tankful over 59MPG. Starting from 58.2MPG and about 200 miles in, I nursed it 50 miles of mainly A/B-road this morning with just me on board, going not a shade over 55mph. I'd just hit 59MPG when I came to the back of a 45 minute queue . Lost the lot crawling through a diversion route ?. Managed to end on 58.8MPG with a clearer return journey. But I'm sure I should be looking at well into the 60's after that sort of running, it certainly did that round Scotland last year.

Turbo starting to show its age perhaps Ian?

I was wondering if it might be something like that. It's a lovely smooth engine and very free-revving but it lacks the level of bite above 3000rpm that the other two have at 40-60k less mileage. Still plenty of torque lower down though.

Took the family on holiday in our our A2 complete with roof box. Serious hit on the MPG down to 55 but other than that, excellent!

A fair amount of aerodynamic efficiency lost with the roof box and fully laden. Needs must I suppose......55mpg is in no way disrespectful for cars of this vintage.

Today I met @Jock and his 3 x A2s. 2 lovely examples and a parts car. He's got the bug. Always lovely to meet A2OC members. It's a great wee community.
Unfortunately we couldn't get to the bottom of his bench seat problem.
It was a pleasure to meet you today murdo and I appreciate that you went out of your way to help me. If there is ever anything I can do to return the favour don't be shy. Thank you.

Power washed just with water, or a specific cleaner / detergent. Never been brave enough to try this myself.
