Today I.....

Spacers looking good on the pepperpots Steve
How do you know they have spacers? I assume it is how far they come out to the wheel arch. My question , do pepperpots need spacers? I have pepperpots and also spacers but they are not on a car at the moment. Are longer bolts needed? Sorry, that was three questions.

I bought an air-con system cleaner. Moved the seats forward, popped off the can and ten minutes later it was all done.
I just hope it stops that smell of damp dog that happens in the first few minutes of a journey. Simple and quiite cheap.

I also took my car to my local garage to help diagnose the rather bumpy ride to my car happening front right wing.
It turns out that the rear left tyre has a bulge that was causing the regular not field.
Rather than buy another 205/40 R17 and endure the slightly choppy ride, I am now putting together my 15" Golf GTI rims with some better branded 195/50 R15.
Pictures arriving tomorrow when it's done at 11 am.

Hi JulesW,
Have you Changed the cabin filter recently , better with the activated charcoal one, you can also run dry steam through the vents to purge nasty odours from the ducts,

Today I sorted out a CV boot clip nightmare. Had replaced both outer CVs but the supplied clip just would not sit tight enough. I used the proper clamping tool with ratchet handles attached for extra leverage. Went on fine, looked all square and tight but when I ran the wheel at full lock it just popped off (same thing other side). Can only think it is because, 1. The new boot was harder plastic-based rather than the original, more grippy rubber boot, 2. I let grease get in between the boot and clamping surface. Cleaned up the splatter and put on some 9mm tie wraps. Came off, grease splatter everywhere. Tried again with aftermarket metal clips after cleaning up the grease splatter and same thing happened again. Cleaned up splatter and regreased. Eventually gave up on crimp clips and used jubilee clips which so far have not come off. They were even marked "A2" so must have made for the job! ?

Personally never come across this problem, are you absolutely cert that they are the correct boot?
It seems to me that they might be a bit shorter than the original boots, only guessing mate.

Correct, the non spacers sit inward of the wheel arch, something about ET 38, not sure of the technicalities! You can run them without but they just sit inward a little too much. Photos of my old A2 with no spacers.

You will definitely need suitable longer length bolts to compensate for the extra thickness 15/20mm of the spacer!

Thanks for clearing that up @Cenick . Is it peoples preference or are there noticeable benefits?

Today I changed my 17" sport alloys for Golf Mk3 Gti wheels of 15" diameter. Will the ride improve?
Now how to attach photos that are too big...

The ride will certainly improve
Email the photos to yourself there is a option in gmail to reduce the size. Not sure about other mail servers

If you use Apple devices there is a free App in App Store called 'Simple Resize', does what ir says on the can.

It depends on the size of the tyre. Bigger the side wall, more comfortable the driving but handles less direct around corners

I've been driving past an A2 with custom reg plate in Bournemouth, which hasn't moved for a while, at least looks like it. Just checking not stolen. Reg: A2 YND*

*EDIT: A2 YND

It’s a little bit better around the corners but mainly for aesthetics in my opinion. Others may have a different view of course!
