Today I.....

You're very brave fitting 225/45 17 tyres on an A2, especially with wheels with a high offset and no spacers.

The image below is what you'll soon end up with, especially on the drivers side rear and passenger side front, along with damaged tyres too!

Be careful ?
Is that pic of rear arch? Curious of that rubber pipe? Ta

Hi Stan what’s the diesel purge ? Is it easy to do ? Thanks

Happy New Year.
If you skip back to page 539 in this post you will see the image of the Liquid Moly Diesel purge.
Some people just run their fuel tanks low and add it then but you can do what I did yesterday and use it neat. Not done it on the A2 yet though.
The 1.9 TDI in the A4 is a PD engine but if you look up on YouTube it shows the diesel purge being used on both PD and non PD (Pump Diesel) engines.
The idea is to have a loop with the filter in it and run it for approx 20 through the rev range.
I also cleaned the MAS (mass air flow sensor) while changing the air filter. Running sweet as. ??.

Will check this out . Thanks as well . Seems like a worthwhile task for an engine with a few miles on it . I like the idea of running it through the system then going back to using diesel as normal . I tend to run some of these redex additives at various times but this looks like something I should try .

I also use redex on fill ups and do a diesel purge every 20,0000.
It will take 0.5 ltr of Kerosene / 40 ltrs in winter when fuelling up. Known as winter fuel.

Search for the diesel purge 101 thread and all will be revealed…

Thanks guys a diesel purge it is then . It’s recommended for a ATL 90 which is what I have . May even try it on a seat Arosa with the 1.4 Tdi as well…. Even a 206hdi . I’m planning too much now !!

All diesel cars with some miles on that may not have been exclusively fed high-detergent fuel the whole time would benefit.

HNY all! I took Alison down a favorite road of ours on the way back from work yesterday evening. This was necessary as I was in a terrible mood, having had to work on NYE and NYD... ?‍♂️

Although the 1.4TDI 75 is certainly not a Sports Car, unlike sports car owners, I am able to use far more of Alison's performance. And have much more fun. ?

All totally legal too. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this; it seems a well sorted A2 rewards a 'committed' approach to 'making progress'.

Often to the chagrin of 'drivers' behind the wheel of something wearing 'S-line' or 'M-Sport' badges... ?

All part of the appeal really. And when we turn back and look at our trusty and dependable Aluminium companions, we see that cute little face...

Priceless.

Eight years of the 8Z experience in February. Oh how some people- not friends- laughed... They're not laughing now!

Our cars are getting rather thin on the ground. Locally, I only see Rupert. A rough silver one has come and gone. Thankfully, the first one I saw locally- a blue Colour Storm is still around... Let's do our first to keep them going...

Evening all,

Rather late post as forgot to jump on earlier, got caught up with ‘back to school and back to work’ preparations

Whilst the recent works conducted in the OEM+ A2 we’re still fresh in my head I thought I’d employ the tools again.

This time in Project 250:

Today see the installation of a Soul Double DIN Dashboard, RNS-E PU, AMI Module, BT Tel Module, Factory SDS Microphone, Komfortblinker and a Q Revision Slip Ring.

Quite a few hours work but really worth it. Pictures once it’s been cleaned as it really has been neglected lately.

Kind regards,

Tom

Flippin eck Tom, you are getting good at this.
Hello John,

I try my best Sir. This A2 has pretty much become everything that the other driver here didn’t initially desire. I’ve a few more things to install but they’ll have to wait a few weeks now unfortunately as back to work in the morning.

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

Today I got the Dremel out again.

Remember this £150 TT RNS-E PU:

It quickly had an A4 fascia fitted:

I subsequently added a glossy screen surround and masked it up for surgery:

Half hour later it looks like this:

It’s now ready to finally be fitted into its new cubby hole.

Kind regards,

Tom
