Today I.....

Did the return of the journey back from Disney. It was a day early as our little girl came down with Chicken Pox yesterday sadly. This also meant my wife was definitely not in the mood to listen to me telling her there was at least 100 miles left in the car (DIS said 85) when the fuel alarm sounded driving off the tunnel so I gave in and put 12 litres in at the Esso (at GREAT expense!!) just leaving the Chunnel terminal.

Best ‘tank average’ so far though and I know I’d have at least beaten the 700mile ‘barrier’ on a different day!!!

I don't know how tdi A2s do that, my 1.4 petrol gives me 50-60 miles/quarter tank, so around 35mpg, which is a farcry from your mpgs.
I only drive 15-20min at once though, so takes more fuel to warm the engine up to temp, but still I can't even reach that distance, even with 2 tanks of fuel :/

Also, today when I was filling up/checking bits and had unscrewed the top oil cap, I do not know how, but out of nowhere, 2 pieces of dried leaf, size of a penny, fell EXACTLY into the hole!
I'd managed to fish out one, but the other one disappeared into oblivion. Great...

It is a 1.2 tbf. You do well to get 75mpg out of a 1.4tdi

I was a bit confused by the DIS, clearly an auto display.Shame there was never a RHD 1.2
Well a LHD is handy in France 😊. Tbh I’m so used to the LHD thing now i don’t really even think about it whilst driving. I don’t do much overtaking as that’s not really what I bought the car for! I have though got in the passenger seat a few times though as I flit between a LHD & RHD A2. Every time I feel very silly!

Well today I did bu!?er all !! but …

Don’t now what is going to happen in the football but @Ami has already made an epic save today, sorting out a new water pump and cam belts and alternator belt on mine today. Below is what a 21 year old water pump looks like, many thanks again @Ami

Next on the list is brake/clutch fluid change, squealing starter motor, clean up and treat rear axle rust.

Great to meet @drewroberts today as well, add number plate lights to the list.

You are more than welcome, it was good to see you,
Cheers

.. was going to take the car back off the road but someone needs it as a commuter for the next few weeks, summer job time. Fair enough; she'll be contributing to some upkeep, too. Need to get the oil changed and then the only other thing I really want done is the exhaust.
BN Pipes is €740 now, though? Wow. Will have to see if she thinks that's worth it.

Certainly makes a very strong case as an EV alternative doesn’t it? Very shrewd of you to buy it when you did.

Always great to have the piece of mind that your drivebelt system is in good order! However thats not an original genuine pump, the bullseye and metal impeller give it away!

Ah thanks Howey. Very little history with this car and what there is doesn’t make it clear whether pump and belts had ever been done, so I had worked on the assumption they never had (it’s only done 42k). They were very much on last legs!

Thats just showing off now lol!
The preloved sports knob @slumdog supplied for a very modest fee really lifts my base model with its TT wheel!
Upon removing my old one only one of the three lugs was present securing the gaiter and nothing was securing the knob with no clip and lugs broken but it never came off whilst driving lol!

It's only the airbag fascia that's different, the steering wheel is exactly the same on the TT and A2 Sport models👍
Yes thought so but mu base model had a "lovely" plastic wheel from new! How audi charged the price they did for the A2 and had such cheap items on entry models amazes me, you would have thought the A2 would have quality fittings as standard (steering wheel and handbrake)

Yes the early base model and late so called 'Special Edition' had the non leather 4 spoke wheel but the the SE wheel was leather and 4 spoke and the Sport leather and 3 spoke, the same as the TT wheel 👍
