Today I.....

Fuel gauge did not work, stuck on empty and VCDS said was open circuit. Got a replacement one from the breakers. On stripping out mine it was coated in a black grime, cleaned and found to be working Ok. So £10 wasted - well have a spare now.

I always recommend doing the free options first, such as checking connections, cleaning contacts, etc. before buying replacements.

But at £10 there is no need to feel FUELISH !

Today I... ... topped up the windscreen washer fluid to stop the DEFCON1 Klaxon going off every time I start the car!

Today I parked the A2 at a nearby friends house for the next 4 or 5 months to clear out the drive while we have some building work done. It'll get used a few times a week but the beaten up Jazz will be the default motor for the duration.

Also , As I've had a knee op recently, the sports seats I picked up from David (DJ190) won't get installed for a few weeks either.

Today I...finally got round to putting my winter wheels on even tho i planned to do it last week, and after that i sat down on the laptop to read up on the koni fsd threads regarding corrosion:(, lots of gold flaking bits of koni shocks on the driveway.

Today I gave up on fitting a Dension Gateway, given that the radio removal keys on one side won't latch onto anything securely. Try again at the weekend...

Today I.... Fitted some car mats. I know the previous owner was female and she must have loved stilettos as there was hole punched right through the carpet to the floor pan below the accelerator!

Simon.

Scary, imagine trying to brake and your heel delaying or preventing it.
Of a "weekend" I change to my flat shoes when I go out "dressed up";)

... started to dry it out. It's damp inside, too much rain and unfinished projects are a bad combination.

Now for the garage...

Today "well a few days ago" i got thrown, escorted, pushed out of Manchester Audi by a doorman as i was heading to the service desk.. if i go back a few hours you might understand how this come to happen.. but still shocking .. well we were towing my new A2 back to manchester when my A2 decided to throw a hissy fit and break down , after 4hrs and a motorway service stop we managed to get to manchester as you can imagine covered in grime and black as ya hat from being under the car and pulling the engine apart, so im heading to the service desk to try and get the dirty diesel dog booked in for a cambelt asp and use that to tow my sickened petrol home but as the showroom was full of suits we did not fit in it seems as a doorman rushed at us with his arms out to his sides to get us back outside the showroom ... we ended up going to the VW dealer just down the road, they would not fit me a cambelt due to not having the correct tools or diagnostics so ended up with just a new cambelt as all they had in stock..

Hi Jigsaw

That was a bizarre episode you had to endure, had they just finished a nice new white pristine tiled floor and did not want you on it, or maybe you had the look of a suicide bomber visualizing seven virgins when in fact you were ogling Audi's latest wares. lol

Hope you get a fix soon.

Today I... Picked my A2 up from Tony at A2Cars. Went in for cambelt, waterpump, thermostat and OpenSky service but Tony picked up a few other jobs that needed doing and sorted those too.

In stark contrast to Jigsaw's treatment by Manchester Audi above, it is impossible to overstate how friendly, helpful and considerate Tony is and now that the car has had a good going over it has confirmed to me that it was a good buy in the first place. Looking forward to going back for a few of the cosmetic issues and upgrades to be sorted now that the mechanical side is almost done.

Simon.

no it was like i was a pikey too lower class to enter the premises, couldnt let me in with all the toffs buying new cars, even thow i had my slighty soiled david beckam jacket n jeans on perhaps it was me oil coverd and black hands and messy hair that did it, the guard, doorman looked and talked down at us while he told us to go accross the road. my mate was non too pleased and wanted to remove the guys head and re position it up his rear but i did drag him back to the car to cool off before he exploded, suicide bomber now that rings about right...

well i did the cambelt but decided the diesel dog was to unsafe to drive home due to several other serious mechanical issues, back to manchester soon with some new parts for round 2 lol

I do hope you're mentally composing the scathing letter to the dealer principal as we speak......

well i probally would of, if it wont for the parts guys accross the road who even rang VW for me as they couldnt get me parts till monday so i could fix it myself, i even went back the next day to Manchester Audi Parts as couldnt find any crank timing marks and they tried there best to help me out to no avail... i may still write a letter to AUDI but why waste my time .....id rather spend it fixing my diesel dog

Hi Jigsaw

I had a similar episode with my BMW e28 525e in 1998 at a Dealership in Glesga as the car was 10 years old at the time and as you know most Dealers dinae like older models loitering their Lot, there were no suicide bombers around then so it must have been my natural look , a cravat, dungareez and LA Gear trainers and a bold heed to top it, the Parts Dept Staff looked at me as if I was from another Planet , I wondered why, I was only after some clips to hold on an exterior plastic trim to a door. I am sure it was not my Attire that warranted there facial expressions.

If it's any consolation, a certain south London/Croydon Audi dealer is ignoring my emails regarding obtaining a duplicate service book, despite my having visited in person to arrange.
