Today I.....

I think you will find that’s Chinese tons ie 1 metric ton = 3 British cwt ??

Yes I’m joking ? again for a diy for occasional use why pay strong money for pro ones ..it’s pity your not local I have a couple of spare sets ..be careful under there ...
Yes, diy and occasional use and definitely don’t need pro ones. I’ve read so much safety info around axle stands so i’m as well prepped as can be. I have a fair few spare railway sleepers too which I’ll be placing under the car as an extra precaution as nobody needs a 1 tonne car fall on them.

Aldi normally sell German made don’t they? I’m sure the last few car items I got were pretty solid.

ECP normally sell a Laser 17mm hex plug and my local one had it in stock for immediate pickup when I was last there.

What kind of oil syringe did you get? I need to change my gear box oil I think.

I do the same even with quality stands I put rubber pieces between car and stand it doesn’t slip metal on metal (slippy ) and I do same chock up with with big timbers just touching but not taking weight ...just Incase a stand went ..it’s not going to fall on you ..( I have a selection of 10” square bits of oak different thicknesses) ..and funny enough a couple of cheap Aldi trolly jacks bought years ago to play safe ...good luck on the job your doing ...your not rocking the car about changing gearbox oil .not like heaving to get a control arm off ..

Normally they do sell German product but these are indeed made in China.

The Laser 17mm hex key is the one I’ve ordered and was due to turn up today. On contacting them it turns out the company didn’t update their eBay page to show they were out of stock and would need to order it (3 days) and then despatch. It was going to be my weekend task but will probably be next week now.

Oil srynge - I came across this which was in Wickes and is for lawn mower oil changes however will help me refill the oil, it has a bendy tube so should make it easy despite having to refill it a few times (no hardship) and at £9 it’ll make my life significantly easier.

I also have a couple of ramps too so could use them and I have stiff rubber offcuts too so was planning on using them anyway to avoid metal/metal slip and to protect the points where the axle stands go.

Control arm - that might be a bit beyond my ability!

“It’s just and bolts”...... fair point. I bought a good torque wrench so I’m serious about doing some of this stuff. A bit of forum knowledge and being reasonably mechanically minded, if and when this stuff needs doing I’ll build the courage and get it done.

The enjoyment is why I want to do it. In my 25 years of motoring I did lots on my first car (student), every other car I was time constrained and paid dealers to do things. New cars need expensive kit to tinker and that’s where the A2 fits in as I can/should be able to do a lot of things myself and as you say it’s for the enjoyment.

Clearly your doing as much as you can, keep doing just that as I agree with a previous comment of yours........”it’s good for the soul” ?

Some little basket reversed into the rear bumper on Sally’s silver one today with a tow bar drove off obviously when she came back from shopping mark down the bumper ? won’t t cut out and a finger shaped dent that’s the joy of having a nice car ?.on another note look at the two below .

Strange one sally said from the off the new island green is more green than the other just moved them together I know it’s dusk but original is definitely bluer was this still island green but a different batch I know tints vary ???? Or is this a penny black ? ££££

Likely to be down to how it’s been kept. Polished cleaned etc kept in sun or garaged etc. Sun does have an affect on the paint

After Silver, my favorite color, especially combined with twist interior ☺

That photo of the two cars together makes WJO look more Crystal Blue in comparison to the new island green car Paul. Possibly the lighting angles. ?

I must admit I have never been a fan of tan or cream leather interiors but yes in the a2 twist suits it so well ..still mulling over what to do with the other keep sto I 100% or do what I originally planned black leather bilstein full brake upgrade same forged wheels same as the other ..they would make a nice brace ??..uum ?

His and hers ?

Even in daylight they are way different 2 shades out my painter would have a field day trying to match tinting either ..? I can’t honestly believe sun would do such an even job all over the car every panel ...no I’m not having that ..call me a nay sayer ..I still think I’ve got one that slipped out the factory by accident...it’s definitely my penny black probably worth millions ??
