Today I.....

Very nice ..
Your lucky there are still genuine rubber mats available for left hand drive a2s they are not available for right drive ☹..rarer than unicorns ..

So I've heard, there seems to be some sort of "original tailored versions" avialable on ebay.

That looks so strange without the clutch pedal
I agree the rubber mats look the business and so practical

Thanks! :)

Nice seats. Where are they from?

They are from an Audi TT, as my original seats where non heated I've retrofited the controlers.

I thought the nice touches are the silver trim around the vents, light switch and door handles

Bought it almost seven years ago, it's called "Dash trim". :)

@philward what were you using to put the bush in? I used hacksaw, drill etc to get out as I dont have the right tools :)
I have a universal bush / bearing press set. I selected the appropriate size cups, lubricated the bush location with Dynax UC (mainly to prevent further rust) and they both wound in comfortably after a few taps with a hammer to get them square. Don't forget to stop winding leaving a gap of 0.2mm.

... fitted the Audi iPod adapter to my Concert audio unit.
I recently bought a new centre dash console cage for a future upgrade to a double-DIN unit, probably CarPlay enabled.
However until then I wanted to have at least some of my music playable in the car and, since I collect vintage Apple products as well as this vintage Audi one, I though why not make use of the iPod....
In with the cage I also purchased the official Audi iPod Adapter box and cables.

The fit was pretty easy: The audio unit, climate control unit and storage cubby come out without too much effort, the hardest part was routing the cable round the back of the dash without fouling the ash tray. I had to remove that and carefully check the cable but it was fine.
Then I secured the unit and the connection cable in place.
Connecting to the back of the stereo was pretty easy. I used pin extraction tools to remove the pins from the old block connector on the iPod adapter and then inserted them into the matching places on the existing connector. Then spliced the ground in and tested... Worked first time!

You get a really interesting interface on the iPod itself, it displays an Audi logo and then starts playing the music on the device. The only way to control it is to use the controls in the head unit. However it's great for now and the sound through the factory system is more than fine.

This morning I swapped over the n s rear wheel arch with the newer one I bought from A2 Steve (thanks Steve) it was fairly straight forward but a word of caution to any one doing this for the 1st time. It is imperative that once the inner arch liner is out that you ensure all the screws holding the wheel arch in place are removed before you start tugging. I missed a couple of screws which were hidden in small recesses which proved a bit of a pain. But got their in the end took about 3 hrs.

Decided to take the rear seats out for an eco journey today so effective in van mode.

29 miles, 50/50 motorway and town, a/c on econ and driving marginally under speed limits. Suspect rear seats and my kids child seats weigh about 50-60kg so that was the weight saving vs normal.

My FSI achieved 56.2mpg with c.63mpg on the motorway and c.50mpg in town so happy with that. Potential total range of 565 miles on the 42 litre tank although expect that will go down to about 480-500. If I can help it I’ll try to keep the seats out to see what the max I can get out is.

I can’t say that the weight saving made a huge difference as I’ve achieved these figures before however even more sprightly under acceleration and overtaking.

I just got back from a 300mile trip to the highlands. Car so heavy the rear wheels were scrubbing in the tubs on the really bumpy bits. Last 90 mins in 3rd gear and hovering on the brake while I crawled up and down single track roads through mountain-lets and hillsides.

Still knocked out 64mpg average for the trip.

Good on you Alex, sounds like a difficult trip to achieve those sorts of figures.

I'm really struggling to lift the average for my current tankful over 59MPG. Starting from 58.2MPG and about 200 miles in, I nursed it 50 miles of mainly A/B-road this morning with just me on board, going not a shade over 55mph. I'd just hit 59MPG when I came to the back of a 45 minute queue . Lost the lot crawling through a diversion route ?. Managed to end on 58.8MPG with a clearer return journey. But I'm sure I should be looking at well into the 60's after that sort of running, it certainly did that round Scotland last year.

Today I finished the rattle can refurb of 2 sport wheels i have been working on .
I bought 4 really tatty wheel and tyres from ebay for £100 and picked the best 2 to fix up. Learned along the away one I stripped fight back, the other I was able to keep lots of the original paint .... definitely do not strip right back creates loads more work to get a half decent finish.
I plan to put these on the car now and then refurb my own back set, which are not too bad by comparison .
I have 2 of the wheels I bought from ebay spare ,,, see photo if anyone is interested .

Wow that colour combo. Can we have more photos of the interior?

I had a dolphin grey A2 before this one ..... Nardo grey is the Audi colour of the moment and the dolphin grey is as close as you can get in an A2
I love the rarer colours castle and jaipur always good to see one that looks bit unusual . Ive not seen another tan leather interior though, anyone else got it ?

Rare as hens teeth methinks!
I’m new on here, so far I’ve never seen it on another car yet though!
