Today I.....

Evening dieselfan,

I did see these and was thinking about them but the shipping was just too much. There are much cheaper alternative to get them delivered to the UK.

If the seller was willing to do some more investigation to shipping and adjust the price then I’d buy them as well. More expensive than I paid earlier but still a nice price for the wheels. Might have to contact the seller actually as a certain Dolphin Grey A2 might also look good sporting these.

More than I paid for the car though, but some things are just worth the money.

Kind regards,

Tom
Congrat with really nice rims Tom, it is a good feeling to have something you don't see around every corner :)?
They are too wide for my use if only available as 7", you have perhaps noticed that I hunt picogram for the moment.....so I will stick to 6"x15" pepperpots machined down a kg, with light 185/55 R15, not to please the eye, more the grip......;) ?
If it wasn't for that I would have done same as you, I said wooow , more than once when I saw them.....

Did you notice the German advert stated ET42. Not a big issue but perhaps good to double check before order the adapters...
If drilling the rims 5x112, it is also possible to buy steel inserts with collar for maximum strength
Cheers

Ok, not today but Sunday I tweaked the gear linkage adjustment so I diddnt end up in reverse instead of 1st and got 5th gear back! was surprisingly fine tolerance in the end. I do need to check wheel alignment now though as it seems to drive straight wiht the steering wheel not quite straight! Oh and a bulb in the glove box is required and a detailing session once the weather has improved.

Oh and today I had two new tyres on my Discovery 3 as I got a cut in one on a rock, they cost more than I paid for my little project A2.

And another pass with no advisories, tester was very complimentary about it!

Had to show him the vin plate type sticker location though

Today I let my wife take the A2 for work and now she doesn’t want to give it back! She loved it. Only thing for it is a second one? maybe ?
Looks like a very good looking car so I must say that I fully support her decision ;)

(over here it is the opposite. she bought the fist A2 (as a revenge) since I was late with fixing her car ..... and today... I have to beg her to borrow)
Go for a second one, go-go-go ????

Finally fitted my shiny freshly painted rear bumper... was going to wait until the spring but got impatient.
Also, fixed the side clips by heating them up and bending them back into shape. Bumper doesn’t pop out on the sides at all now after doing this, which it always had done since purchase. Result all round!
Front bumper tomorrow ?

Lovely job mate, looks great.

My reverse sensors still aren’t working though lol... don’t know where else to look now. Has to be the wiring somewhere
Evening Again,

I’ve not been tracking your sensor issues. Have you got the ability to get a scan done. What sound comes from the buzzer/speaker when you select reverse.

Is this a retrofit you’ve recently completed yourself or has it been fitted for some time. Was it working before the freshly painted bumper was fitted.

If you have a continuous long tone for roughly 8 seconds then there is a fault with the communication to one or all of the sensors. This could indicate the harness or one (or all) sensors being faulty. A scan should reveal all.

Kind regards,

Tom

This shad been ongoing since I’ve owned the car. I get a long tone when I engage reverse, have scanned and get bad earth on one of the sensors... different set of sensors but still the same issue, i do have a different control unit which I’ve yet to try...

Understood,

I do have a spare harness (module to sensors) you could try once youve eliminated the Module itself. I don’t personally have it with me as its being used for research for future RNS-E firmware ‘stuff’.

Let me know how you get on as I’d gladly let you borrow it over the mail system to prove your set up. At least that way you’d know what you might need to replace.

It migh be worth getting Tom @timmus involved. He could probably understand what the probable cause is from just seeing copy of a scan. He of course could repair your current harness as it’s likely to be either a damaged pin, broken connector or a worn cable. He soldered my harness (module to the vehicle harness) and really is an expert at these things.

I’m here to help if need be but ‘other Tom’ is your friend here.

Kind regards,

Tom

It’s strange that the fault has followed even after changing to another bumper. As you say, change the controller and then go from there.
