Evening Erling,Didn’t know one of those could be made too fit. Keep pushing those boundary’s @2work !!!
The rear of all RNS-Es, regardless of what vehicle they are intended for, are the same. It’s the TT curved fascia that doesn’t allow for prefect fitting into the A2.
I knew that I would have to swap the front fascia for an A3/4/6 fascia but that doesn’t concern me. It’s an easy enough operation that can be completed in an hour.
Personally I was never bothered about adapting a TT unit but £150 for a first generation RNS-E PU (internal hardware for V signal and RFSL identical to the 193B that everyone seems to prefer) was an absolute steal. I’ve never seen one so inexpensive before and had to grab it for the tight budget transformation I'm trying to keep to with Project 250.
I know I’ll find a cheap enough fascia soon enough whilst on my travels. There are a few on eBay which I might enquire about.
What would be a real project though is getting a R8 RNS-E with the larger screen and separate looking buttons:
I might have a go at this one day and relocate the buttons (only on a ribbon so might be able to lengthen it) to below the ashtray or even the handbrake tray. Just waiting to understand if the custom firmware will work on this unit, cannot see why not but I’m not an expert but I know a man who is. If done correctly it would look very MMI style. No doubt a custom 3D printed fascia will be required but should be simple enough.
Kind regards,
Tom
