Today I.....

Looking good
Also looks like the hand brake needs adjustment or is it just that the hand brake is pulled up hard

Ha ha, I didn't drop it when I took the photo.

It was still pulled up high to enable the centre console to be tilted up to fit the bracket.

View attachment 85941Took this first pic of Akoya and Audrey together - I have been promised Audrey will get a wash this weekend by my bro-in-law!
Now washed and polished - lighting not as good mind!:

Not today, but yesterday I fulfilled one of my "A2 plans for 2021" and took it around the Nürburgring Grand Prix course after work.

Being able to attempt to take corners much faster than you'd usually do when there's trees or other objects next to the road turned out to be quite fun, driving the track in what was basically darkness at 8pm with dozens of 300-700hp cars in the rear view mirror was not. ?
Not great if you can't tell if the car behind is closing in at 150 or 250 kph.

Whenever I got a corner to myself though, I thought the car cornered fairly well for what it is (a bog standard ATL with a bunch of heavy extras), though I never bothered to full throttle the straights. I'm also guessing the corners could've been taken quicker yet as I never even managed to get the ESP to do anything or the budget 205 tyres to squeal.

Either way, good practice to see where the car's limit isn't. ?

If only the track photographers had been able to take a picture in the effectively nighttime session... bringing your own videocamera is supposedly forbidden... ?

There's also videos of people out there taking their 3L on the half-as-wide Nordschleife, but after this experience I'm not too sure anymore if I still want to be on a track that much more demanding with those same 700hp cars on it too. ?

A2 25th Anniversary Trackday for all the european clubs anyone? ?

Was that your A2 indicating in front in the first minute or so?
Indeed. As it's supposed to be driven like a dual-lane one-way-road I was trying to let that pack of cars by to get a corner or two to myself there. I actually have no connection to the uploader and it's the only video of that session on the web so I'll take what I can get in terms of available footage. ?

Having sold my TDI yesterday, I asked @Hef for a favour; whether I could borrow one of his fleet to keep me on the road for work until the weekend.

What I wasn't expecting, was him lending me his best example that's had thousands of pounds and a multitude of hours lavished on it.

I must say, being pulled along by the hybrid turbo, listing to a top end audio intall in a leather, wood and alcantara clad interior its a special place to be.

Will be sad to hand it back on saturday :)

Today I am beginning to loose the will…so am asking advice so I can try and get my car sorted properly rather than a bodge job!

I’ve got the radiator/fan housing in the photo but am being told that there is a support that runs along the front of the car, behind the bottom edge of the bumper, that this sits on?! Any advice greatly received as my wife is starting to ask why I bother driving a car that’s so difficult to get parts for (I’m not completely out of reasons just yet but it’s getting more awkward!)…and am still searching for the Intercooler duct too ?

The only support for the housing is the whole front panel. If that's not damaged then you don't need to chnage it. There is a big aluminium crash bar that runs infront of the housing, but that is a seperate part and is for crash damage protection.

Thanks Steve…so I should be ok with the housing I have got and the Intercooler duct when one turns up ?

Thanks ?

Unless its done further damage to the front panel then yes you'll be fine.

If you are desperate to get the car back on the road (and keep wife happy) then you can run the car without the air duct on the intercooler. Yes it should be there, but its not going to do any damage to the car running without it.

Is the intercooler duct able to be fitted after putting the front bumper back on? Or would it need removing again before fitting it?

Today I fitted new top and bottom rubber stops on the rear springs. The tops were okay but the bottom ones were shot. Gave the new ones a light coating of lithium grease and I no longer have a sqeekey suspension. :)

Actually, after asking a photographer posting other pics of the session, I got this ?

Interesting that they look such different heights - is that one each of top and bottom? Pretty sure my old red A2 had the bottom ones replaced last year but I don't remember there being top ones ? - Did you by chance see if there were still sports and non-sports ones for sale? (Feel like I remember that a UK CS couldn't be "Sport" so guessing you replaced them with "normal" size new ones?)

The two in the photo above are both from the bottom of the spring Seb. They are orange coloured and the angle of photo may make one look higher than the other. They are both the same size and made by Febi. The ones at the top are black coloured and are the correct parts for my sports suspension. I think both are still available to buy from Audi dealers relatively cheaply. Crewe audi supplied me with the top ones for sports models. These are the "old" top ones......
