Information Today Tom ...

I'm starting a thread here as an alternative to the Today I... thread, as most the work that has been going on with my car has been being carried out by Tom (Timmus) as I'm a mechanical numpty, and would feel rather guilty posting in the Today I... thread saying I did the work. Plus, I feel Tom needs a bit more credit for the exemplary work he carries out on both mine, and many others' cars.

So this thread is intended as an open post, for people like myself to post.

So, first entry, actually yesterday, but we're not going to quibble about this, Tom was very sad :(. We went to see Richard Hall's lovely Dolphin Grey TDI, as I was buying his very nice A1 Winter wheels for Baby Boomer. Unfortunately, we were also there to give it it's last rites, as it is going to the great Diesel Scrappage Scheme in the sky on Wednesday. Tom was devastated that such a nice car was going to the crusher. I must admit I was close to a breakdown myself, but we understood Richard's reasons. The upside of the journey was that we got to see Richard's remarkable collection of vehicles including his Mint Mk1 Golf Campaign that he has owned for over 30 years, and Tom also looked at the possibilities for ColourDIS in the Audi TT Mk1 as well, as Richard gave us a tour of his lovely example.

Also yesterday Tom has been helping me fix Project X's little, but annoying, faults. He traced a faulty door control module that was preventing her mirrors from moving properly and we affixed a new bonnet to the TDI 120.

All in all, a great weekend, many thanks Tom!

Tom as also carried out several jobs on my A2.
Couldn't agree more.

I've heard of a red colour storm TDI with 40k going to the scrappage scheme. It's a crying shame because over the lifetime of the car the A2 TDI is probably very environmentally friendly.

Hide that from Tom  It was indeed a great shame. Especially as Richard's was spotless (apart from a ding that happened last week!) with only 80k on the clock. I didn't manage to get any pics, as it was dark when we got there.

Good thread and can see your point. I always put that stuff in the members cars section , ie our car and always thank Tom, but not sure many see it as the amount of likes are very small.

As you've spent time with the legend yesterday, would you happen to know when he's next touring offering his services?

I will go and put my hair shirt on now as penance! was nice to meet you both and hope that the bits you took away will allow 'Scrat' as the car was called to at least live on in spirit in some other cars. I have checked with VW today and the cars can't go for breaking or be bought with a promise that will happen but are instead crushed. :( I have had over 50 cars and this will be only the second one where I will feel genuine sadness as it goes.

Might go and paint a black arm band on it tomorrow.

Photos or it didn't happen ;)

... was really selfish and spent pretty much the whole day working on his own and his sisters' car  Not a thought to any of his A2 family ...

... transformed Project X's interior, you gotta love an A3 wheel.

... Tom popped around to fix the electric fan on my Carcoon this evening. Stopped for tea (and Ice cream), then we chatted A2s and gave me general advise on what direction and options are available for JRV :)

Today (yesterday) Tom came and fitted colour DIS for me :).
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING.
I just wanted a pretty new looking screen and I have got something far greater than that.
As always Tom was professional, brilliant and genuinely lovely.
