TT footrest.. anyone fitted one??

Time to put an end to my voyeurism on this forum.. :D Actually, I found the search function quite useful so far, and I'm not of the kind that posts just for the sake of posting.. So here it goes:

I have a factory alu-trim equipped '02 A2. Since I always hated the shape and 'feel' of the VAG corporate pedals - I replaced the rubber pedal covers with brushed steel Audi TT covers. (this is about the only mod on my car.. I just LOVE everything about my A2 and it's the only car I've ever had that I don't feel like modding..) Anyhow.. I have a TT footrest also (a leftover from my '02 GTI.. totalled 2 yrs. ago.. rest in peace..), and, obviously, the thing is different shape and different size (more narrow..) compared to what we have in our cars.. It seems to be aprox. the same height as ours though.. and it mounts in a similar fashion (one screw at the top..) So, you guessed it - I was thinking of cutting the sucker, and fitting the rubber and brushed steel piece over the factory A2 footrest. Anyone done this before? (I've done the search - but didn't come up with anything.. :) ) Or has done something similar? It would really be great if you'd shed some light on me - as I'd feel bad to ruin a perfectly good part + not being able to fit it on my car..

Cheers!

Hi DarkBlue, welcome to the A2oc
I'm almost certain none of our members have fitted the TT footrest.
I also have the TT pedal rubbers (plus the gear**** and drivers airbag) and the footrest has been on my wish list for a while. If you have the facility to 'scan' the footrest full size and provide a couple of reference dimensions then post it on our site, maybe we could offer some suggestions. It may also be worthwhile checking out the footrests used on some of the RS models which are of a similar design but probably larger.

Cheers Spike

Thanks! :)

Uhhh.. that's a tasty looking interior!!! Love the steering wheel!!!

OK, here's my project for this weekend (work won't allow me to do this any sooner..) - I'll remove the OEM footrest, blueprint it, and copy it to the back of the TT footrest. Compare - and see if it's doable. My concern is, because of the A2 footrest being so narrow, that I won't be able to cut that much off the steel plate (it's perforated, where the rubber comes through..), + the mounting issue (the steel plate is held on by 1 screw & a few tabs..

And yes.. my car is RHD.. :) But nevertheless.. the footrest looks the same, from what I can see in your pic..
