Typical cost for wheel bearing fitted?

Hi, it looks as though my front wheel bearing is on the way out (nice wining noise above 40mph) Does anyone know what a typical cost would be for a new wheel bearing fitted? Any suggestions for the Worcestershire area?:)

If you want genuine parts, you're looking at around £90 for the bearing assembly and about the same for fitting, which is a specialist job, needing specific tools.

Cheers,

Mike

Are you sitting down?............ The bearing is integrated into the hub assy so parts are quite expensive. Special tools are required to fit the assy (check the garage has these) and its a fiddly job. Expect to pay around £200, and more from an Audi garage.

paid something like 250-270€ a few months ago for a front bearing fitted, at my Audi dealer.

Had the front passenger one replaced by my local garage last week at a touch under £200

I had the driver's side done last year for £142 total and the passenger side done three weeks ago for £146 from a local VAG independent.

This is probably a how long is a piece of string question?

But how long do the wheel bearings typical last? what mileage have you changed them at?

Thanks
Nick

the offside wheel bearing now needs replacing on my 65k tdi
when replacing the wheel bearing is there anything else that should be replaced whilst stuff is off the car?
In addition, does anyone have the part no and cost from main dealer?
I have been quoted £65+vat for non OE part, but prefer to use VAG part.
Annoyed because have had the strut replaced on the same corner two weeks ago!

I recently paid £120 for a pair of non OE parts for the front not had them fitted yet.

But recently had the complete rear brakes(i.e shoe,s,slave cylinder, hand brake cable) and both rear wheel bearings and that cost £450 so best them done.
