Tyre size, are they too big?

They are SE 16" alloys. Is 35 ET usual though?
But I think you're right, just the wrong tyres. But it's curious, the chap I bought them from was selling them on behalf of his friend who had an A2.
The tyres are brand new, but from experience he should have known they were wrong.

Perhaps the previous owner thought he was getting a better deal on those tyres instead of fitting the correct size. Check the shoulders and sidewalls for signs of rubbing although they probable rubbed the front ABS wiring looms.

They're brand new tyres, never been on the road. It's why they were so appealing.
I just didn't check out the size fully enough.

Ah I see. May still be worth while if you can find someone that needs that size of tyre and can subsidise the cost of the correct size tyres for those wheels. Not worth the risk by using as is on an A2.

From the photo of the A2 for sale on audi-sport.net they look like the 7Jx16 ET31 5/100 rims below, ie. ET31 not ET35.

From the first photo below, you can see that the specification is cast into the front of the alloy rim, rather than the back.

@carlston Thanks for sharing the above.
I love this alloy wheel style from mark 1 TT , I have bought 2 sets ( for 2 of my A2,s ) fantastic ride comfort of course with 205 50 16, the second set I bought are fitted with 205 55 16 which I now know was a mistake need to change either 205 50 16 or small side walls.

That's my plan, hopefully.
And to do more homework beforehand. 👍
