I am going to need new front tyres soon, but I have been advised that I need to keep the same make of tyre all round due to the traction control etc. Is this true or can I change to another make as michelin tyres which I currently have all round are so costly or would this be false economy

1.4 PETROL A2 BLACK WITH OPEN SKY AND REAR BENCH SEAT
 
Personally, I can't see a problem as long as you keep both fronts the same & both rears the same.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.
 
No it's not true that you must keep the same make - chances are Micheline have changed the make and pattern by now anyway. Traction control only works on the front wheels so just change axle pairs together. I recommend Toyo Proxes as replacements - I paid £75 each and they gave a better ride than the Dunlops I did have fitted - Michelins were £120 each!
 
Traction control and ASP should be able to cope with tyre wear. I would change those which need changing and only change the others if it creates a problem.

Not like having a 4x4 when they have to be the same diameter!

thanks for the info. just one more question, do i really need V rated tyres seems a bit excessive to me or can I change to H rated ones.

Use what the car handbook specifies, braking and acceleration loads are taken into account when setting the rating, not just speed.

Not using the correct specification tyre will infringe construction and use etc. It could result in an MOT failure and could also invalidate insurance in the event of an "relevant incident".
