Imagine my horror when i read this thread. There i was Sunday afternoon sat with a coffee and began to read the description in the advert, Jan 04, 49k ect, ect. Then i look at the pictures not put in Ebay ect, yeah you got its the A2 we bought for the Mrs a fortnight ago.
We bought it from a large independant dealer in West Yorkshire, they got it the back end of last year. So how he moved the car on is anyones guess.
I think they have done some work to it, the dint in the back door has gone and the skirt covers are in place. I dashed outside and rechecked the gaps round the front end, they are all equal,( i recall checking this in the showroom, i have been caught out before) to say the car is 5 years old everyone who sees it comments its in near perfect condition, that said there are a couple of tiny stone chips on the wings, i like to see things like that on used cars, it says to me its not hiding anything. The dealer assures me it has been checked, its not been written off, however i may have been in a shunt, who knows. Who also knows if its been thrashed, with used cars you can never tell, i dont think we paid over the odds for it, just over 6K.
We really like the car, its some thing diffferent. I wanted a Focus, as soon as she saw this she was sold on it.
Any way we think its a nice car, its found a good home, it will be well looked after so heres to many miles of A2 ownnership!

I wish you well with the car.

As you're not far from me, if you want to pop across and have a full scan and mileage verification done, you're more than welcome - I'm just on the other side of the hill

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks, you clearly know your stuff, maybe if im planning to be around your neck of the woods at some point, yeah you could have a look, i will let you know!

No problems! Yes, I do know A2s inside out and also hace the necessary tools to do full diagnostics and verify that the mileage displayed is correct.

Depending on the number of keys you have, I can also recode, rematch and pair new keys (or second-hand ones from Ebay, with new blades) to the car too.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks fella's im sure the car is fine, handy to know there is an expert not too far away.
Cheers
Simon.

Milage verification

Hello Skipton,

I'am very interested in knowing how can you check the real milage.
I'd like to check my a2.
Is it simple?
What do we need and how do we do ?

Thanks
Merci d'avance :)

It can be checked with VCDS diagnostic gear - the engine ECU stores ait's own mileage, independant of the instruments, so it is easy to cross reference the 2 values.

Cheers,

Mike

i know someone in the mileage correction business who told me that their service was undetectable and that they re-wrote the data in the ECU ??? - Not that i would ever do that to my cars !

Is this function available in VAG COM 409.1 with a chinese interface ?
My will is only to check not to crack.

Many thanks again

As with most things, mileages are crackable given time and knowledge, but the average 'clocker' would just change the dash reading.

I doubt that a freeware version of VagCom will have this feature.

That is all correct Bretti - apart from the ways to obtain the PIN: I have tools to get this too, which is why I can now recode transponders and keys to immobilisers.

Hi. Im afraid after almost 18 months of very happy A2 ownership the car that has been the main topic of this thread has been written off. My Mrs pulled out of a junction and didnt see the speeding Jaguar X Type doing about 50 in a 30 zone through a village. The A2 was hit on the nearside back door and was spun through 135 degrees and came to rest in the Post Office door. Our 5 year old princess was sat behind the door that was hit, she banged her head and was unconcious, she spent the night in hospital but was discharged the next day. She is fine now. Her Mum was ok physically but hasnt been in the best emotional state since.
The Audi A2 is probably the best car we have ever had, but realistically it was a bit too small for us, so we wont be getting another.
Id like to thankyou all for the help you have given me over the last 18 months.

Cheers
Simon
