Updating V5 with towing weights .... anyone done this ?

Bit of an update . I have received the CoC by email . They are offering to post a copy out. I did speak to Audi customer services the day before asking for an update . Was told currently very long lead time but that they would make contact on my behalf so to receive it a day later is pretty good . However it still shows the towing weights as zero. Also it’s always sent in German . On mine it’s item number 17. I have asked them to provide an updated version to include the revised towing values as I understand the car is homologated for towing.

Latest update . Received this response from Audi.
“At the time of manufacture Audi A2 variants were not Type Approved for towing capabilities and therefore no towing weights are or will be available.”

Just wondered has anyone got a more positive response or does anyone have a 2001 or earlier A2 which is marked up for towing probably with a OE fit Towbar ?
Otherwise it’s probably over as a project

What does the CE Certificate, which the towbar manufacturer describes on the towbar label, state? Unless it specifies something like " from year/VIN xxxx" the towbar CE Cert surely covers you?
Mac.

Not got that but they did promise a CoC . The Towbar manufacturer that is . They did promise it so I will follow it up . I don’t think the CE marking has much relevance it just demonstrates that the Towbar was manufactured correctly ..

I think the CE Certification covers more than manufacturing, it will include the application (A2) too. From the link @spike posted
the EEC APPROVAL N°: e6*94/20*0605*00. CE approval confirms an item's suitability for purpose, includes the fixings, and so is vehicle specific.
Need to ask the towbar supplier (GDW) if the CE approval includes a start date , ie: from 200x, or just vehicle type, ie: Audi A2
Mac.
The German A2 Forum has some info on other suppliers, such as AlKo, Bosal, Wesfalia etc. Google e6*94/20*0605*00, and use Google translate.

Interesting thread,

I've checked my 2, the 2004 ATL '90 has towing weights listed on the V5 and a train weight on the Vin sticker 1050Kg above gross vehicle weight.
My 2003 AMF '75 has NO weights listed on the V5 but does have the same train weight difference of 1050 on the sticker as the '90.

So I would use both to to tow if I wanted, Vin plates matter, V5's often have errors.
@A2Si does your Vin sticker show the train weight the same as the GVW? or do you only have 3 weights listed ?

I hope you manage to get it sorted.

Andy

Thanks for all the help . I’m going to carry on trying to sort this . I’m just not sure if the Towbar suppliers info overrides the info from Audi both on the VIN plate and also the V5.
I guess If the V5 doesn’t match the VIN plate then you can get DVLA to revise the V5 on the basis of it being an error or omission. I had hoped that Audi/VW could have helped more.
I’ve added pics of the labels I have received from GDW.

Just an update since this discussion started I’ve switched from a 2001 1.4 tdi without weights on VIN or V5 to a 2004 with train weight so the latter car is fine to tow. Would still like to get a proper definite answer … just in case I buy another early car .

Something weird happening to my profile . I can’t see pics I added myself !!
