Using the key in the drivers door lock

for me, using just the blade - no electronics anywhere - to unlock the door got me the same behaviour as the remote. It also opens and closes the windows - ergo, logically speaking, the key blade in the lock executes the same behaviour as the remote does.

So I would have thought that two separate turns of the key in the lock in quick succession should unlock all doors, as it's two presses of the unlock button to open them all.

Just need confirmation that all doors will only open on the door key lock if the remote is set to open all doors on one push.
You will probably find that the key and the fob only behave in the same way. It's either two presses/turns or one for both. Either one or the other for both.

Sorry, not able to confirm this. My two cars ('02 and '04) are both set to open all doors on the first press of the fob, not just the driver's. However the key only unlocks the driver's door, and a second turn/hold to unlock does nothing on either car. I hear no noise from any door lock motor until I turn the ignition on at which point they all cycle to unlock.

Locking on the key does work on all doors however, with a second turn/hold to close any open electric windows (and OSS if fitted - this worked on my former Cobalt TDI).

Yesterday, I tried locking and unlocking my car with the key and it does not lock.
Unlocks all 4 doors, but locks driver's only, mechanically.
To detect the problem I briefly connected pins 7 and 8 (12pin connector on the door control module) separately to the car's earth, it worked, both unlock and lock.

In my case, the problem is the micro switch in the door lock, it doesn't send the lock signal to the door control module.

Option 15 allows the unlocking of all doors with one press of the key fob, which would presumably override option 3. If option 3 is also on, the key will only unlock the driver's door. So it seems it is possible.

Issue I have is second key turn does not unlock all doors nor does holding it drop the windows.

2003 UK-spec.

The windows will drop and all the doors will unlock only if the remote unlock button is pressed before holding the blade manually in the unlock position.
