Does any member in the devon area have the VCDS that knows how to reprogram keys and of course is willing to allow me to pop over and pay them a visit. I believe I need both my key fobs doing as I've tried all the get arounds and battery changes ect with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark,

I have VCDS and am on the scan register as probably the nearest member to you, but I’ve still not got it out and used it - it’s now packed away ready for our house move this summer, so unless you can wait until say September, I’m not your man on this occasion.

Thanks

Thank you, if no one else is near by then i'd be more than happy to wait till September time, I'm not in desperate need just one of those niggles you want sorted.

Mark, I could try and fish the cd and cable out of the sea and boxes for you to borrow?
That's very kind of you, I don't have the first clue what to do with it but if you wouldn't mind giving me a general idea then I suppose I could give it a go.

I have no idea either (I was perhaps a touch over-enthusiastic when the register was put together as I had intended to learn at that point but you-know-what transpired to delay my plans), but there are others on here who could guide you remotely!

Let me know.

If you manage to find the required bits I will make the journey to you, that said you'd need to pm me your location. I will wait until I've had my cambelts and water pump done which is a week today if that's ok.

Mark this guide is the way to do keys....

Sadly that has not worked on either keys, I have tried a few different fixes but non have worked so I am assuming the keys will need reprogramming.

Thanks anyway @audifan

So explain exactly what the keys do and what they do not do. I take it they came with the car?
As far as I aware yes they came with the car, they both now have new batteries in and the lock, unlock and boot release buttons do nothing when pressed. I know the central locking works as all doors and boot locks when I use the key in the drivers door lock to open and close the car.

The keys obviously start the car no problem. It is the lower remote half of the keys that are not functional. I am wondering if they are correct for your car. Can you lift the carpet out of the passenger footwell and lift the panel underneath. That will expose the compartment under the floor. Towards the center console you will see a black rectangular box with several electrical connectors. This is the CCCU. Note down its part number ESPECIALLY the letter(s) at the end. If it is a single letter then the key remote does not have a D on the end, all double letter CCCU require the D key. To check your keys you need to split them as if changing the battery and along the split line of the face opposite the buttons you will find the part numbers. So to sum up for the keys to work remotely before they are matched to the CCCU they must be compatible i.e. single letter no D double letter remote must end in D. You did fit the batteries the correct way round?

@Mka306
Have you got a laptop, any old laptop (I run it on a 10 year old, Windows 7, HP Netbook) , as long as it runs Windows XP - 10, and has a USB port?
If so, KKL lead from eBay, at under a tenner, and download VCDS Lite from the Rosstech website, which is free. Don't use the version that may come on CD with the lead. Only install the official version.
If you want to give it a try, let me know.
Mac.

I have just printed off the courier label to send Mark my VCDS setup - so I think this query is resolved assuming Mr Hermes looks after it :)

As I have no idea what I'm looking at so I've posted the areas marked on each of the sides.

Your car is 2002 model right Mark? That key is dated to 2002 which bodes well.

8ZO 837 231 is the part number by the look of it.

Wrong component Mark - that's the audio amplifier.

(the clue is "Blaupunkt" written on it - which as you know is a well-known audio-visual supplier to the motor industry ;) )
