Vmax in an FSI

I was looking for something else A2 related and came across this which is somebody getting up to 218km/h (135 mph) in an FSI. 210km/h seemed easy but suspect the last 8km/h was probably down hill.

I accept the speedo is probably over reading a bit, 4th to 5th change @ 7000rpm with Vmax @6000 rpm in 5th. I’m assuming a standard box here as I don’t think it would achieve that with longer ratios.

I’ve watched a few times and it fascinates me despite it being a 10yr old video and only showing an instrument cluster.

I’d like to try that on an unrestricted autobahn in my FSI as it’s probably never ever been anywhere near that speed.

That is not the dash of an fsi the redline is too low, looks like a 1.4 dash so many an engine swap

Yeah...........my FSI red starts at 6200. Does the redline start earlier on European cars with a Km/h scale?

Engine swap or indeed a dash swap seems like a lot of work?

Yeah it is a fair amount of work.

The European ones are the same

Apologies but velocity is a vector and the modulus operator was missing from the thread title. I got confused.

Velocity is a vector. Now I use modules operators in programming all the time I cannot for the life of me work out the relevance of this to this conversation

None. I just perfected my sarcasm to such a level while being in the UK that everybody thinks I am being serious.

Today I leaned that the FSI doesn't just have a higher redline than the 1.4, it has an entirely different scale on the rev counter. Never knew that.

Absolutely, news to me too. Just goes to show no expense spared during development, more so considering the parts bin available to Audi.
