Votex Style Bodykits

AN UPDATE !!!!

I visited the production company today for a first look at the prototype.

There were some problems with the fit but they are correcting that and once they have done that they will have one of our A2s for a few days to ensure that everything is a perfect fit.

The finish on them is REALLY good too.

Here are a couple of pictures.

The red one is the mould for the rear
The silver one is a genuine (used) Front
The white one is the prototype that needs adjusting and a new mould making as a result (more expense !! LOL)

They are thin enough to be flexible enough for the application.

Would also be interested in a spoiler. Keep me informed of availability and cost.

Hi,

I have some jacking point covers, they need a little smoothing to the face (the 3d printer doesn't do gentle curves super smoothly.

But they are an exact match. £20 (because of the 7 hour print time).

My email address is [email protected]

The rear Votex spoilers are currently with the production company and they are about to quote me for them.

Hi,

I have been experimenting with different settings on the 3D printer, for the Jacking point covers.

The quality of the end product is much improved (although they were ok to start with)

The face just needs light sanding now, rather than filling and sanding.

I just printed off a Nearside Rear for Cpt Shed and it is looking good!!

Some pictures.

I am keeping the price as £20 each or £75 for a set of 4. (Not for profit)

I can vouch for these, I think Steve sent me one of the first batch and he did warn me to hang for newer version but wanted it now....and I can honestly say it was brilliant as it was...yes it needed some smoothing out but worked a treat...and for £20 was a bargain.
I have now sealed them all on using some yellow Sugru :) (garages will have to jack up from underneath)

Thanks Steve....I should have sent you a picture of it on the car...but the car is dirty and needs paint correction...so im not going too...because im ashamed of it :)

Just a gentle bump for the Votex jacking point copies.

I have around 4 full sets of these with the improved finish.

If you are short of any these will enable you to replace them with exact copies.

Some interesting facts about the process

As I have mentioned it takes 6 hours (reduced from 7 now) to print one cover.
All 4 covers are different and cannot be used in anything but that one position.
I have used over a kilometre of the plastic filament that the 3d printer melts into stands the thickness of a hair.
They are printed by it melting and positioning the hair thin plastic.

The printer also "prints" supports as it prints so that the overhangs can be printed.
The plastic is melted at 230 degrees on a "table" heated to 110 degrees.
The material is ABS (not related to the brakes !!!
The resulting cover is an exact copy including all of the mounting points etc, and even copies any "blemishes" in the original covers (even though these were brand new when copied.

The printer has been running for over 100 hours so far and still works perfectly (touching wood).

If you need one, or a full set
even I have some ready and waiting.

The people who have bought them so far seem very happy with them, even though the face of the cover needs a bit of sanding to make it perfe3ct.

I'd like a full set off the jack point covers if still available 
Hi

Please PM me your name and address and I can give you my PayPal details.
I can then get them into the post to you tomorrow.

I just posted details of the jacking point covers on the German A2Freun.de forum.

I am sure that there are many really nice A2s that have the appearance marred by a missing cover there too.

I also hope they don't think I am a "profiteer".

I must admit that I am a little surprised at why these are not selling? It could be that the price seems dear to some, or perhaps the finish is worrying people.

Happy to hear any thoughts negative or otherwise (hopefully constructive ones)

Agreed Steve some of the 3D printed on arts that I have produced (mainly for my own use) have sold really well, the fuse lid clips, dipstick ends and the glove box light switch repair to name a few. Others however have sold none or very few
I sell them all at or very near to cost price but I do need to cover the plastic used and electric used and the upkeep of the printer itself. I do not charge for my time to developer the cad model as if I did the parts would be a LOT more expensive
You would expect that obsolete items would sell well but this is clearly not always the case
I'm sure they will sell over time and to be honest you don't want too many orders all at once with the extended print timed
Cheers Paul

I do need to figure out the best software option and scanner, at the moment I am very limited to what I can print.

Apart from the Votex covers the only other things I have printed have been some "spinners" for the grandchildren!!

The good news is that I have had all of them smoothed and primed.
I get them back from the paint shop tomorrow.
Please message me your full name and address and I will get them off to you as soon as they arrive.
