wash with two buckets and no sponge...

no, I don't use a sponge. Why? because it picks up grit.
I use a microfiber mitt - the ones with the mini-dreadlocks. And two buckets: one for fresh, the other rinse water.

Rinse the car
Start from the top. Water from the wash bucket.
Wash.
Before picking up more clean water, mitt into the rinse bucket, agitate with the hand a couple of times, rinse, agitiate, squeeze - and then pick more fresh water up.
90% of the grime stays in the rinse bucket.

I also use allpurpose cleaner, diluted to 1:4 or 1:10 for wheels. Spray on, brush with a clean paintbrush, let it sit for a while and then rinse well. I also have a second MF mitt for my helper - she does numberplates and wheels/tyres, and those ONLY, with that mitt and her own water. the APC also does for door shuts. Not that they're a problem on the A2, but the 307 ones are awful...

No way on earth would I use a squeegee blade, and I am now using a rotary polishing machine with Menzerna polishes - it's a pain taping off the car, but there you go - and Collinite wax. Works great; the last job was done in December and I can powerwash 95% of the junk off the 307 in three minutes flat. Oh, and only MFs for application and polishing; I have something like 20 in the mean time and they get washed when necessary.

I'd also like to play with snowfoam, but I haven't got round to that yet.

hope this helps.
