Water leak after biblical rain into the passenger footwell via the pollen filter housing (I think)

Hi all,

Can I assume the first port of call should be the bonnet drains? Does the symptom (1L+ of water pouring as above) when first driving off after the car has been parked in rainy weather since before Xmas) match this?

I don't think it's the AC condensate.

Sounds right to me. You'll know as soon as you take the bonnet off - it'll be much heavier than usual with the air intake chamber full of water.

Check the valves on the bonnet , I’ve had occasions where they have been folded over stopping them from opening properly.

Thanks - the valves are indeed at fault but they’re not folded, it’s just that they’ve hardened.

The part number is 8Z0815941C and they’re NLA but audi tradition has them. PM going to @Rickmeister !

Have you tried removing them and soaking them in hot water? This can bring some rubber parts back to life. You can also buy rubber rejuvenators, my favourite being Gummi Pflege

You could try a rubber restorer, Gummi Pflege has had quite a few good writeups on here. A (paid?) convert......

Edit. Typing at the same time as audifan, what are the chances of that with six hours since original post!
