Water leaking in rear passenger side and boot

Yes the original bumper went back on but does not sit close along the sides, this is a very common sight on the A2 as even a gentle nudge causes the side clips to either spring off or even break the edge of the bumper that fits on the side brackets. If the main crash bar behind the plastic bumper has been distorted at all then getting the bumper to fit properly will be difficult.

Thanks, that's good to know. I took a look earlier and there isn't any obvious damage just the one clip that doesn't look like it can go back. My phone battery is bad so it died before I could get photos. I think it was probably bumped on the right and the pressure popped the clip on the left out of place.

Luckily the water levels haven't gone up again since I siphoned it. I'm going to get it looked at when the numbers start to fall again as it's too risky right now.

Hi all, I am having major water in the battery compartment issues again at present. It was bad last year, so the vents were replaced. For the last couple of weeks at least, I am removing several inches of standing water. Today has been the worst it has ever been!.
Two weeks ago my A2 failed to start for the first time ever (in almost 18 years). We got her started with jump leads and whizzed down to Halfords, where they checked the battery, which they said was fine.
The car had been standing, not used for around a week prior to the starting problem, so I went for a bit of a drive. I've been making sure that the engine is started every couple of days now. Tonight I didn't think she was going to start again after sounding distinctly dodgy. There appears to be like an electrical crackling sound coming from the rear on engine start up. Surely this has to do with all of the water in the back??.
I have a working open sky roof. Is it likely that this amount of water could be from blocked drainage? My car is due for it's service in the next month or so, but the water issue needs fixing asap and I have white mould growing!.

If the water is from the open sky, you would have wet headlining. I know you say the rear vents were replaced, but were they sealed? Its not the vents thats usually the problem, more the gaskets that perish, silicone sealant sorts that out.

I also have the same problem with condensation, wet seats in the back and sagging lining.
Whereabouts do the rear drain tubes come out at the back of the car?
Thanks

There are no rear drain tubes as such from the OSS. The water simply runs along between the seal of the last rear (fixed) panel and the body, it then leaves near the tailgate hinges and runs down either side of the tailgate - the part you see with the tailgate open.
I have added pictures to explain the front and the rear drain system

This is taken standing in the centre of the rear footwell (obviously no OSS in place):

Then this is where the water exits and runs down either side of the tailgate:

Then the front works in a similar way, the drain is down the side of the windscreen, this can be cleared by running a credit card down the length of the windscreen seals:

And internally from here:

I hope that helps explain it?

That is great thank you.
I was looking under the car for a tube and couldn’t see anything
My roof is working at the moment but if it was to go wrong could I ask where you are in the country?
I saw a different thread where you explained costs to refurbish or fix the panoramic roofs
Thanks

We are in Staines, near Heathrow.

I'm pretty sure the water is not to do with the open sky. The carpet in the underfloor boot is wet on both sides & in particular near to the bumper. The car will only start with assistance from jump leads at the moment every day. Need to get the car to the garage, but has been difficult due to the home learning everyday. Hopefully next week in half term.
