water marks on rear seats

AutoGlym Hi-Foaming Shampoo does the trick nicely, I find.

Thanks for that. These stains are quite dark do u think it would get them out? Some grease marks in places too, don't know how they occurred, were there before I took over ownership

Cheers, rich

It's pretty good stuff. Spray it on nice and thick, let it sit for 30 seconds or so, and then start to scrub with a wet cloth, rinsing the cloth occasionally. You may have to do it a few times, letting the seat dry in between attempts, but I reckon you'll win. :)

I've just ordered a couple. Hopefully it will do the trick. Bought loads of different carpet/upholstery cleaners the best one so far was the StainXapp carpet and upholstery mousse. The other valet products didn't touch even the lightest marks. I tried the car pride instant valet to no success.

You might want to try steam cleaning. Some professional valet services will steam-clean all the seats for £50 or less. I did it with min,e after I bought it, and the seats came back as new...

Did they have deep dark water marks though mate? These are quite bad. the rear vents were letting water in for a good while before i even knew it was going through to the seats. We thought we solved it by putting drain hole in battery compartment. It had been standing for a while until it come to me arranging engine repairs. Before bloke come to pick car up i thought i better empty the car only to find it had a massive puddle behind drivers seat and rear seats were stained :/

Second vote for steam cleaning, does work but may have to try a couple of times for stuborn marks,
Stuart.

Thanks timmus, i received the foaming shampoo today. spent a good while doing the parts i could get to as seats are out. removed the rear seats to allow carpet time to dry.

It got around 75% of the marks out on the first go. just got to wait for it to dry to try a second time then put seats back in so i can do the rest :)

can definitely see an improvement :)

My sister has one of those indoor steam cleaners, does windows floors etc, i might give that a go when i go down to see her. i want to try and get the interior as close to new as i can :)

Agree about the steam cleaning. I've used a Polti steam cleaner before. I used 1001 upholstery shampoo first. Don't spray directly on the seats. A capful or less is all that's needed. Foam in with a well rinsed cloth - but don't soak the seat. Once that's done, use the steam cleaner. Again, don't soak the seats. Trouble is the time of year - ideally you want a dry and preferably warm day so the seats dry quickly. If the come up okay - use 3M Scotchgard treatment to protect them.

We got rid of the average sort of water marks on our grey cloth seats by cleaning with the upholstery tool on a Rug Doctor machine, that we hired to do some carpets in the house. You need their detergents etc. to get the best results.

cheers for that guys. I have got the outer parts of the seats (with them closed) clean now. I am going to clip the seats back in and clean them with the upholstery attachment for my carpet cleaner. I've got 4 big crystal dehumidifiers in the car so will hopefully speed up the drying process too :)
