My drivers seat belt is very weak and never really pulls back is there any lubrication on the mechanism ie silicon grease or is it the modern replace it time and any tips on replacing please.

Silicon spray on the top hanger (just a touch) done the trick on mine.

... and if that does not work, pull the belt out all the way and give the (normally hidden) end of the belt a good soaking with the silicone spray. The interior will stink for a day or two, but the belt will retract - well mine did (2001 car).

Note thats silicone spray NOT silicone grease.
(sorry if thats obvious).

I've found my seat belt reluctant to recoil if held away from the door pillar. When its next to the door pillar (vertical) it recoils with out a problem.

Just a thought!!

Problem Fixed - if you pull on the belt there is pleanty of 'spring tension' as it goes into the plastic, however the shoulder loop part seems to create lots of friction on a slightly worn belt....

Solution - SPRAY SILICON SRAY over the inside and outside of belt, wipe surplus of with a rag - wow it does recall well now !

Thanks for all the tips !
