Well after all this reading i've been doing...

...It's only gone and happened :( was closing my opensky roof yesterday and just as the roof was about 3 inches off being fully closed, before it sinks the rear end of the biggest glass panel into place, I heard a massive crack/snap noise. I thought the noise was my mate knocking his seatbelt on the window as he was taking it off :( bloody wish it was now! Pressed the button to close the rest of the roof and only the drivers side moved forwards, the passenger side looked like it couldn't be bothered moving, dragging it's lazy arse up the sliders no more than a cm or two.

So I had to shoot home and try and work out how to get it shut, managed to manually slide it into place with my mate pressing the close button. But I can't believe just how annoyed I am about this. Having read a few of the other threads mentioning it'll cost up to a couple of grand, I know for one that it's not worth forking out all that money on the car.

To top it off i've been having a few problems with the indicators, well not so much the indicators, but the clicking noise that the indicators do in the car, it's been going a bit mental when I cancel or it automatically cancels the indicator signals and will start clicking on and off in no specific pattern for no specific length either?

Could anyone shed any light on any ideas or should I just sell it? I'm getting fed up about little problems on this car that I can't (to my knowledge) really help prevent. I can't help but hate the thought of all the other people that have had nothing but problems with their A2 and have sold it on to save them the money!

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Stick with the A2 mate - honestly, you'll be glad you did.

The roof problem can quite easily be sorted, as long as nothing mechanical has gone - even then, just keep it closed and use the aircon if it is going to be an expensive repair. I know it's not ideal, but you can throw some money at it (if you want to) later on.

As for the indicators, sounds like a dodgy relay - easy enough to fix yourself, just ask for a new one from the dealer and then whip out the storage tray in the centre console and remove the old one and attach the new one.

Change for another car now and you'll regret it sooner rather than later. Yes, I know you've had a lot of problems with yours, most of them hopefully sorted (by that Warrington 'repair' company!), but the A2 is worth sticking with.

Hell, I've got another problem with mine right now - being unable to overtake a 10year old Daewoo driven by an 80-year old is very embarrassing and so is breaking down in a bus lane! I'll be sticking with the Tank though (unless I get an offer I can't refuse) and I'd suggest you do the same.

Cheers,

Mike

Cheers mate, to be honest i'm glad your telling me to stick with, i really want to as i really do like the car and everything about it, but i just can't stop thinking, this isn't practical, it doesn't make sense, i'm easily in two minds at the moment but leaving the roof until a later stage i have thought of, i'm tempted to try and have a play today with it, but then i think, 'no be sensible, you know it's more than likely going to be better off left alone'.

As for the relay, do you have any idea on how one of these would cost? It's not screwing around that much at the moment, and i've checked to see if the indicators actually flash when the clicking noise is going bonkers and they don't, so that for now can just be another little thing annoying me in the background until i get the time and cash aside to sort it. Don't suppose you'd have any diagrams or anything that might help me with the changeover of the new relay?

Cheers,

Mike

From memory, the indicator relays are about £30 inc VAT from a dealer and they normally hold them in stock.

Mike

Had my A2 since feb of this year, had a few probs / niggles but now they're all sorted, and I love it.Goes like a dream and trundles along nicely. Just had the rear windows tinted (£235) to hide my tools from view, and it looks the biz.
Decided to get myself a new Mini......but my wife says I have to wait till I have saved up the cash to buy it  So I reckon it'll be March '07 plate :)
Will keep the A2 for work tho..... best looking floorlayers van in the area :D

Just sold mine in part exchange for a polo dune. I do like the A2 but had so many problems will be glad to see it go. Maybe I have just been unlucky still got gear box whine but gear selection is smooth so persume it cant be too serious. Should get new car this time next month sticking to black as I think it looks great.
