Well Done Audi!! I had a dipped beam headlight bulb go pop on my A2 on Sunday (new years day), the local audi stealer was shut, not to re-open until tuesday, and i didn't have the correct torx sockets to fit a new bulb, thats if i could find one!!

Message on the stealer anwerphone said to ring Audi Assistance, which I did, the girl said that i would have to pay for the bulb but not labour, and she would call me back once she had got someone en-route. 10 minutes later, she called, he would be an hour, and i didn't even have to pay for the bulb!!!

He fitted it in about 20 minutes, bonnet off, headlamp out, old black bulb out, then put it all back together, very good service!! I would have had to pay 40 odd quid at a stealer otherwise, and drive home with one headlamp on tuesday!!

:D:D:D

Thats good man, great when business's keep their customers happy!
hope i get the same kinda service when my car goes in for diagnostics on monday (*cross's fingers)

Theres nothing unusual about the bulb. And the job is really easy to do. I hate that the job is only supposed to be done by a stealer. Take the bonnet off and undo 3 bolts how hard is that? (I got a set of security bits from Screwfix direct for about 5 quid. has been absolutely invaluable)

Sounds like very good service from Audi Assist though. Shame not all of the dealers are that good.

Nice job !

But it's still a shame that a driver can't replace a bulb himself. They should keep that in mind when they design the car. You could get a fine for driving with a busted bulb and you don't always have the time to hang around and wait for the mechanic to show up.

Bulb Changing?complicated?

Is it just my A2 that was simple to change? I did not require a Touque Screwdriver? My Main beem bulb also blew on friday so today I took it to my local halfords on sat(after being quoted 40£ for one bulb and fitting from Audi) picked 2 50% brighter bulbs(buy one get one free) and asked the guy to fit it for an extra 5£. I had read the bulb changing guide on here so I thought I knew what he was in for, however Halfords man simply did the following.
-Remove Bonnet via the to twist clips either end of service flap section and slide bonnet off
-Disconeect headlight
-slide/unclip what appeard to be a plastic cover
-take old bulb out
-replace with new bulb
-put bonnet back on (possably the trickiest part)

Bingo it was done. Im running a 75ps 03plate A2SE, at which point should the Halfords man used a special screwdrive/bits?

On the early models there is a bracket that is to close to the back of the head light so the plastic cover does not come off even though you can unclip it...

Well done to Audi assist I would never have thought of calling them out for a light bulb change. i will bear that in mind if I ever need to get one replaced mind you in my case it would be VW assist.
