Well, the journey begins...

Some of you many have seen my post asking about people's experiences using A2s on long journeys. Well, reassured by the feedback, I've taken the plunge and bought one.

So, I'd been spending a lot of time on Autotrader and eBay, looking to see what the market has on offer, but nearly every car which looked interesting was 'up country' – a long way up country. I'd narrowed my search down to a TDI 75 (not many 90s around) and just kept logging back on three or four times a day. Yesterday a one-owner 49,000-mile 2005 Special Edition TDI appeared, located not far from where I used to live on the Surrey/Hants border. Full history, cam belt done 5000 miles ago - looked good in its metallic blue. Chat over the phone, arrange for a friend to go and take a look/drive and...deal done! Hopefully collect it Thursday this week. Must admit I can't wait. OK, so a Special Edition isn't very highly spec'd but the low mileage appealed, as did the news that it had been maintained by a local (to him) garage who's owner I know from years past – he's ex-VW/Audi, so knows his stuff. Even if he does admit to not liking A2s!

So, all I have to do now is sell my 2004 1.9TDI Passat Hi-line saloon. 136K, history, full leather etc...Anyone? £2K :) Well, you have to ask...

Cheers
Keith

Well done, Keith! A good car on its way to Cornwall.

Do any of the club's breakers have the parts for the lower front bumper? The lower grille and the fog light blanking plates are missing, leaving a gaping hole beneath the number plate...

Cheers,

Tom
