Chat What are your A2 plans for 2018?

Well having rescued Boxy from a certain appointment with the crusher 2 weeks ago and already done a bit with fitting 18”alloys a sports steering wheel next on the list is

Strip out the interior wet clean the carpets and standard seats.. find a set of good matts to replace the shabby ones.
Remove the beige roof lining and all fitting and change to an Alcantara charcoal roof lining and replace all fittings (sorced)
Fit new climate panel (brought)
Fit Coil overs (brought) new top mounts and drop links
Fit Drilled and grooved discs/new pads all round (brought).. paint calipers.
Window tints all round..
Source a leather interior
Source rear electric window kit
Cruise control
And a partridge in a pear tree.. It’s gonna be a busy few weeks !

I have 2 rear electric window doors with the motors available but no doorcards and switches.

Ps, if you are changing from cream to grey/black, what is your glove box like? I'm in need of a good condition glove box.

But have you driven the latest cars with ADAPTIVE cruise? You come up behind a car and your car automatically slows, keeping a perfect distance? I believe that if your car is also an automatic, then if the car in front moves away, then your car will keep pace, up to the set cruise speed.

My friend’s merc has this. It not only will speed back up from a stop/start but will auto park and will slam the anchors on if it detects that a collision is imminent.
My friend tried his out on a support pillar in an underground car park before trialling it on the open road and discovered that despite speccing it the dealership hadn’t activated the option... it was a brand new AMG SLK Black!

I had my car upgraded to cruise last weekend - I'd put that first in your list of upgrades as it's so good.
I did 237 motorway / dual carriageway miles without even touching the accelerator coming back to London from Wales.
Admittedly, it was a 5 am start and no traffic, but a much more pleasant trip with cruise.

And no sore right foot when you arrived Feels soooooo good
I love cc especially the one I have which is not on the indicator stalk

So I hope the dealer picked up the repair bill as that sounds like an expensive repair

I believe it was a replacement car...

Luckily my pal’s not a total loon and slammed the brakes on himself just before impact so hit the pillar at rather less than the 30mph he’d been going.

I've got ACC on my e-tron and it only works at speeds of up to 19mph I believe. It'll warn you of an impending collision at higher speeds, but won't actually slam on.

that would have been hilarious (and also sad) but luckily Dealership said it should have deployed and that it wasn’t activated as it should have been. Whew!

I've just realised re-reading my post, I've conflated ACC with Audi Pre-sense collision avoidance. ACC is great for relaxed driving but on modern busy roads, where people push in, you end up going backwards in traffic effectively. The (adjustable) gap you can set on the cruise is too large for other drivers to resist pushing in, even on the minimum setting.

Anyhow, I've got the following planned:

Replace all the studs holding the heat shields in place under the car (most immediate task as it sounds like a rattly mess at the moment and even pedestrians are looking pained!)
Tidy up the armrest area and central tunnel - never been happy with it, but there's a limit of what can be done I suppose, without access to a TIG welder.
Re-jig the phone/iPod mount and interface
Re-do the wiring to the bluetooth module to get the phone working again.
Have rear seats re-trimmed in leather/alcantara

Plus one or two other little jobs ;)

Drove my mum's S60 with ACC recently and found the same. Too much gap for modern driving though very nice on quieter sections. Only issue I found was passing HGVs on the motorway on right hand bends had the car slowing so had to leave a 'free' lane - often impractical on our congested roads.

I plan on finalky replacing our A2 that was written off 18 months or so ago!! Should have one on the drive on Saturday ?

Rear Brembos discs, pads and Brake disc guards with New HEL Lines.
Debating if to replace the rear wheel bearings whilst in there.
Service + MOT before March.
Chuck the Polo Bluemotion 14" wheels for the summer

I can Vouch for Skiptons Cruise as its used everyday

Details pls?

Sorry...wasn’t deliberately vague!
I’m picking up a 2000 1.4SE in Jaipur Red (orange...) with a beige interior. 110ish k. miles and well looked after, as far as I can tell! Current owner is (or was) on here I think and is an Audi aficionado ?
