I spent weeks looking for a rattle on one of my old cars, really did my head in (I am slightly OCD with rattles and coins and de icer cans and the likes), turned out to be a clip form the drivers air vent that had broken and fallen on to the tray where the fuse board is....a few good slaps of the tray and it fell into the footwell...probably not your noise, but thought I would share my story!!!!
Mt money would be on the bonnet boat as everyone else has suggested...common rattle that sounds like its in the dash ?

Hmmm, not much difference, if any. Was it any worse in the freezing cold last week? I had a constant light rattle sounding like it was somewhere inside the dash last week, which has completely gone this week.

It's been the same since I bought it weather makes no different to the noise .
