What is your favourite modification?

I was wondering what were people's favourite modification. I recently had my windscreen wiper changed from the 'old' 2002 and earlier type to the new aero or floppy windscreen wiper. The difference is astonishing. I now have a silent, smooth, effective wipe action that doesn't rock the car. It is almost a pleasure to drive around when it is raining. I would actually rate it above being re-mapped after getting used to the extra power. Of course the novelty of silent, effective windscreen clearing might wear off. In the meantime I strongly recommend that if you have the old style wiper and are short of ideas for your Birthday or Christmas, get your other half to spend about £60 (at VAG Parts) on a floppy wiper. :)
 
I like the LED light Mod I did to me A2, I get SO many people staring at the car, and get 'Cool' comments at petrol stations.

My wife and daughter were out at Sainsbury tonight and came back saying peoples eyes were following the car lights :D

I put a long red LED strip in the back as well as a test run, will get some pics up to show you.

Id be surprised if they where connected straight to the battery as the battery is right at the back of the car ...

I Would love to do this to mine as my wiper is nigh on useless at the moment and after visiting vagparts the other day there is a 6 month wait for the floppy wiper arms at the moment dohhh ....If u managed to get one u where very lucky !!!!
 
I connected my lights (as in my Avatar) directly to the 'side light' bulb inside the headlights, as the these LED's take very little current they make little difference on the load. This allows me to have them running with the side lights, but you can connect them to your ignition, to an independant switch, or any other way you like.

Connecting directly to the battery proberbly won't be practical because they are quite bright, and will proberbly attract the 'wrong' attention when your away from the car, not to mention flattening the battery if left for long periods.

In my HONEST opinion, because people seem to notice the lights, hence the car coming, it must be better in avoiding accidents as theres a lower chance of someone saying they didn't 'see' the car coming. :)

The rear strip seems to have the same effect making following drivers aware that the car is 'braking'. I have just put these onto my parcel shelf (as a test run), connected them to one of the 'brake' bulbs and they proved quite successful, may play a little with the positioning of them though, as there is several places to fit them. :D

Favourite mod so far - my remap, as it just makes the car far more enjoyable to drive as you can give it some beans when you want to and put a smile on your face, although I am enjoying the Cruise control mod a lot too.
Maybe when I get my Bose and Leather and bigger alloys I'll change my preference (!), but for now, it's the remap.
 
Hmm too many to choose ;)

Cruise control is the best driver aid
I really like my RS6 wheels especially with the body kit
Daytime running lights certainly get attention
HID's are a massive improvement for night driving

It would be hard to say which was 'best', although I was at an Audi dealer the other day and two sales-persons said they'd never seen an A2 S-Line before and that it must get a few looks given it looked really funky.. I just said "I don't think you'll see many others either!" ;)
 
@Driveforward - I'm interested in your HID installation and daytime runnig lights, can you give more info about how you did both? I know Skipton went the full monty on his HID set up with the headlamp washers and the auto-levelling system, just wanted to how others have achieved decent night vision with HIDs.

My favourite modifications order.

1st Awsome GTI remap 110bhp
2nd Bodykit
3rd RS8 wheels
4th Arm rest

Hopefully a leather retrim before the end of year if i can find a place!

The HID conversion was an easy job. An £80 kit off eBay was fitted in 20 minutes, with the ballast packs mounted from the panel gap where the wing joins the inner skin under the bonnet. The kits have come a long way since I fitted them previous to this. There are no MOT concerns when you don't have washers or auto-levelling as all the MOT can check for is alignment and that the lights function.

The DRL's on the other hand were a real PITA. At one point I had 7 light clusters including those on the car! Mine are LED strips mounted along the leading edge of modified (fibreglass) chrome reflector inserts inside the clusters. The inserts have been sprayed to match the deep grey colour of the outside parts of the light reflector units inside the clusters. They have replaced my sidelights, operate as parking lights AND are ignition-on. Therefore true DRL's given they are independent to the rear tail lights. This was achieved with the use of voltage regulators and a nice arrangement of 6 diodes. They are also independently fused should anything go amiss with the 'always on' function. Certainly seems to be a mixed bag of favourite modifications. There is virtually one of everything:

New Wheels
LED Lights
Armrest
Blackened Headlights
Remap (x2)
Cruise Control (x2)
Koni FSDs
and my only half-joking suggestion of the floppy wiper!

Hi Ian -great, thanks for this - do you have any issues with dazzling or aim? I did a HID installation on a previous Audi and boy does it make a difference. Is there a particular kit you'd recommend, do they still sell the one you bought?
DLRLs sound like a bigger issue, might steer clear from those for now!
