What repair to do on locks

Hi guys here is my vcds scan for the door locks. Currently all the door locks cycle when turning on ignition. If I leave drivers door open the locks lock themselves and then eventually alarm would go off as it detects my movement in car. The fuel flap doesn't work either. It probably works 1 in 50 times of trying. Can anyone tell what needs replacing from my scan picture, would it be either the door control module of the locking module thats at fault. Is there a way of ruling one of the modules out. Thank you so much.

Hi there, The fuel release button may be a fault on its own, common failure. MAybe check the switch itself, it pops out with gentle prising with a plastic tool or credit card type device.

My locks also cycle on ignition, mine does it becasue of one door. What year car is this as it could be the convenience module. (any other wierd stuff with windows?) I beleive the fix is to reflow the solder in the door lock itself or the module? there is a guid eon here if you goodle it with A2OC on the end it will come up.

Hi crispy Edd. Funny you say about Windows. The passenger window goes all the way up then down a bit. And I have to keep pressing the button to go up in tiny increments until fully closed. But this might be connected or another issue entirely.

Hi JimmyJam,
I would start by cleaning the top edge of the window& sides if you can followed by a light spray of silicone spray lubricant to the felt tracks the window runs in.
Try operating the windows up & holding the buttons up whilst doing so& then repeating for the open position.
This programs the stop & start positions , repeat for rears if you have them.
Hope that helps,
Keith.

Thanks for that crispy Edd. Mine only cycle one for about 1 second. I don't have any other symptoms like in your link you kindly posted.

As mentioned before. If I open the car and get in and leave drivers door open the car locks itself. Even if I open from inside and shut door, the car will lock itself.

No mine was door that failed to unlock and needed a bit of adjustment to the tension rod

Jimmy, the car locking itself says to me that the door-open detection microswitch in your driver's door lock mech has failed. This will also be responsible for the fuel flap not working on the button. A common failure mode is due to a dry solder joint but it's not the only one. You'll already have worked out for yourself never to leave the key in it until you've had this sorted. Luckily there are plans afoot for @timmus, by far the best-qualified person to do this, to come down to the South-East in the weeks to come for a workshop residency at my place. He would also be able to advise on the other locks cycling with the ignition and potentially fix them also, however they're not as critical as getting the door-open detection sorted. When details are finalised, we will post a thread where you can sign up and book a time slot to suit you, so keep an eye on the forum.
