With the poor weather at this time of year, and the A2's location to my house its not easy to do an interior clean without trailing mud and grass around the house off the house hoover plus i have to use an extension over a busy public footpath.

so anybody got any recomendations for the best value handhelds that actually do a good job until the weather improves...:)

I can only comment on the cheap ones from Argos - around £16. They are not very good. It all boils down to the same old addage - there are loads of hand held vacs on the market. the more you pay he better they are so its all down to your budget.

i have to agree with this, if you want quality stick with the brand names Bosch, Black and decker etc.... But one thing I can recommend from my own experience is that the battery driven ones either dont have enough "suck" or they run out before you can vacuum the whole car. There are ones which connect to the 12v outlet in the car. I can imagine those would be better. I have a Philips. Its rather weak at full charge and it loses power rather quickly also. So I will get a 12v sooner rather then later.

My best "Hand held vacuum cleaner" is my wife!!!!

But the Dyson is quite amazing, the rechargeable one!

Expensive, YES, but if you share it between the house and car??

Do you not have any working hoovers at petrol stations in the UK?
In Norway they are present and free of charge nearly everywhere where there is a car wash and will probably out perform a handheld vacuum.

There are only a few petrol stations with them and most are poorly maintained and I think most are not free.

We had an Orek mains hoover many years ago that was good until it also went bang... It also made weird smells for quite some time before it went bang.

have to agree with steve, the dyson dc35 works wonders for both car and house as i have one, very expensive but believe me, money well spent :)

cheers cammy

Dyson gets my vote, brilliant we thing we fill it everyday giving the house a once over. Their car cleaning kit is good and they normally give it free through the official website

Got to agree with the Dyson. We have one that was bought about 5yrs ago for the car but use it in the kitchen almost daily. Great little thing

Yep, another vote for the handheld Dyson; we use it as often as the main vacuum cleaner in the house as it's so powerful and convenient - great on stairs, but perfect for the car too. Our one has a motorised brush head as well, which works nicely.

AEG Ergorapido is quite good. The handheld part clicks into a handle and becomes a lightweight upright cleaner.

If anyone wants to get the Dyson i bought one on ebay, refurbished and sold by Dyson themselves (with a 1 year guarantee) for the bargain price of £100. A significant saving on new, highly recommended.

That seems to be a good deal.

I actually "enjoy" (perhaps too strong a word) using the Dyson handheld, no wires, nice and light and very powerful.

One tip for them though, ours started to lose a bit of suction and started "pulsing".

Everything looked ok and the conical filter in the centre of the "cyclones" looked brand new.

I was almost ready to send it for servicing and then I spotted some fine dust inside the filter.

I rinsed it out thoroughly and left it to dry naturally for several hours (best to leave it for a day) and wow, what a difference.

So it is well worth cleaning that filter!!!
