Whats the plastic cradle in the boot for?

In the boot next to the battery (on the right of ...) we have the usual tool kit etc along with the wonderful can to inflate the tyre. But there is a plastic cradle that would resemble a position for the six disk cd changer. The local dealer reckons the A2 has various places to add the CD Player , under the front driver seat , where i mention above and of course the usual boot wheel arch position.
Can someone confirm what goes in this space please.?
Secondly what do you keep under the drivers floor (the stereo AMP is there and bolt hopes for something )..similar to the holes in my skoda where the spare wheel bolt fixed to the chassis.

If you view Glock17's "Whats missng in the boot " thread , its on the top right hand side of the picture..

Right, as per usual, the dealer is talking cr*p!

The cd changer can only ever be fitted into the offside of the boot, requiring a special boot trim piece.

The slot you describe is for the navigation unit on Chorus/Concert/Symphony systems or the TV tuner on RNS-D systems.

The space under the drivers feet is used for the small Blaupunkt amp on cars with rear speakers and no Bose or the Bose amp and the toolkit (except for the jack) on Bose equipped A2s (and a huge smoothing capacitor on my Bose setup, but that's not standard!).

Hope this clears up some confusion,

Cheers,

Mike

I may sound thick , but mine has the single disc front load concert stereo.
There is a small amp under the drivers floor, but what navigation goes in the rear holder (its empty). Is it an extra you can get with the stereo ?

Yes, it basically looks like a cd changer, but it takes an Audi Navigation disc and works in conjunction with a full driver information system to provide navi-info.

Cheers,

Mike
