As per the title - what's the tube outlined and why does it have a piece of webbing strap passing through it?

Explosives? For airbag? Since i don't see wires going any deeper. But that's just a guess.

I'd thought it may be a secondary igniter, but then it only seems to be connected to the thin webbing strap, whereas there's a conventional igniter below, in the middle of the bag.

I *think* that the webbing is a restraint to stop the igniter casing flying out as the airbag deploys (and thereby damaging the airbag or the occupant)

That's the job of the securing pins though, which hold the bag to the wheel. I've heard it may be an exhaust valve, but am unsure of such function.

since it has writing A8 on it, is it suitable for A2 and do you know what model/year A8 it came from? Might find out that way.

Then this case is closed... Was just around hybrid gas generators with my research, now interest is lost and i can resume doing nothing
