Our A2 is now sitting at the dealers after being deliverd this morning[:p]

Had a quick look over it tonight but it was getting a bit dark and it still has all its plastic covering most of the paintwork. Still looked bl**dy nice tho' complete with 5 spoke alloys and number plate with the wifes name on it.

The only pain is we can't pick it up until Wednesday as they can't fit it in for the PDI & valet until Monday & Tuesday. D'oh[V]

Getting all excited now!!!

Good news Rob. You now have another 5 days in which you can go and visit the car – which I guess could equal 10 visits. If the weather stays good you can have a picnic in the car park.

One thing is for sure, and that is by now you will have (via the forum) developed a much better understanding of what to expect.

John Disdale

Good for you Rob-do you have the record for 67 posts but not yet driving an A2?;)

Hope she is everything you expected!.

Good on you Rob

You have been remarkably patient (I can still remember the excellent Moderator's excitement prior to delivery of his new baby!) and I sincerely hope that you end up enjoying one of the gremlin-free A2s!

All the best.

Jon

I've apparently been informed that the car will be a 'He' and that I WON'T be driving it - we'll see. It's a long drive to Scotland.

Pick the car up tomorrow:)

Just popped to the dealers to check it over as it's been valeted today.

2 things.
1)They really should employ people who can wash cars properly as it has quite a few streaks on it.
2)Under the artificial light of the showroom canopy, the bonnet looks to be a very slightly darker shade than the off side wing. Perhaps its the lights so I'll check it in natural daylight tomorrow.

Other than that it looks great[:p][:p] The colour is what I'd describe as metallic plum red if anyone can imagine that. Pictures to follow shortly.

Roll on 9am.

75 posts and no A2 yet. Do I win a prize at the social for being the most patient??;)

Don't worry Rob you are not alone in this dilemma, we waited ( and visited) our A2 for 10 days before being able to drive away in it.....its just so stunning that the dealers like to hang o to it for as long as possible.
You should take some photos though ...it looks cool with all the plastic covers....

Well - today's the day. You will be too busy driving your new baby to visit the forum today - so just to say I hope that all went well and you are happy with the new car.

Jon

I keep looking out of the window, but I have not seen him cruising past as yet. Likewise no sign in the Tesco carpark, although it is spitting with rain.

Picked Him up this morning & all went very well. Had a drive around with the wife and it all seems very solid with no unexpected knocks, thumps or rattles.

Actually asked the salesman about a running in period and he said 'just drive it'. We're still going to go easy for the first 1K or so anyway.

The paint I mentioned earlier on the wing & bonnet is OK. It's just the way the light was reflecting.

All in all a very good start. Just a shame I won't get to drive it very often. I get the impression that I'm not the only one who writes on this forum on behalf of the wifes A2.

Photos have been sent to Stuart and will hopefully appear soon.

Thomas, your English is a damn site better than by German.

I still haven't driven it yet. Maybe Friday if I'm a good boy! :)
It's looking great. Needs a proper wash & polish now to really make it shine.

Piccys on the A2OC now. Are we still the only ones with this colour or are there more about??

Good news Rob. Glad to hear that things have started well. I have spotted one A2 in this colour but not close up. It was going over a flyover while I was going underneath. Looked good though.

Thomas - your English is nearly as good as my German and that's very good! Bon chance!

Rob

Love the colour-in some ways seems to make the car look a bit bigger than most A2's. The front looks very TT-ish.
Were the alloys standard?-love them.......might be on my Christmas list now!!

I cannot see Rob’s car on the A20C site. I did notice however that Harvey Thomas had photographed his car outside Tesco’s. Oh what a laugh.

Steve,
The alloys were a no cost option on the SE instead of the standard 6 spoke design. A good choice I think[^]. In my opinion, there's a classic, timeless virtue to 5 spokes.

JD,
The piccys are in the UK owners folder on page 14.

Rob,

This morning when I looked I could only see up to page 13, however I can see your car now, and yes I agree it’s a wonderful colour. As to photographs I’m sure you will be clicking away again when the sun comes out.

Hi Rob
I thought the only colour for the A2 was silver but i am wrong what a wonderful colour the Merlot Red. It is absolutly gorgeous.
Good Luck with the A2 I hope you don,t need it.
regards Stevo

Rob,

Very, very nice looking car, 1st I've seen in Merlot Red, and as for the 5 spokes - crackers. Have to say well worth the wait.

Look forward to seeing more pics when the conditions are better, ever thought of taking one outside your local Tescos - see if you can get John Disdale laughing again.

Congrats Harvey.
