Hi guys
it' s the first time I let a message in this forum. I am "densperate". I want to buy a set of snow tyres Michelin Alpine A2 but I need a set of wheels in steel or alloy. Who can help me in order to find a web site to purchase them also if by second hand?
Thanks in advance

Audi recommend 5J x 15" steel rims (part no. 8ZO.601.027A - I think) with
155/65R/15 winter tyres.
Not sure if it is practical to ship from Germany but there are 2 sets of wheels (with tyres) on the German e.bay site. One is a private sale and the other is an e.bay shop.

Cheers Spike

Many thanks Spike. I haven't thought the best solution was to see in the German site of E-bay. Unfortunately in the italian site there isn't much.
Bye

similar problems in UK

Hi

I had a similar problem in the UK. You might find therefore some alternative ideas in the month old thread "Winter/snow tyres". There are specialist wheel/tyre shops for alloys in the UK as they are very popular, but steel rims are hard to find. I suspect Italy is similar to the UK in this respect.

Audi recommend an unpopular wheel size that is particularly hard to obtain from anyone else, so don't rule out alternative wheel sizes to fit your choice of tyre - but do get a specialist to confirm that any proposed alternative will be acceptable. I have done a couple of thousand safe miles on my Michelin Alpines now, but I wont know if they make driving the A2 on snow possible until we have some more. Having tried it once, I would NEVER AGAIN drive an A2 in snow with standard road tyres. It has no grip at all, presumably because of the light weight.

I am using the old A3 - 15" alloy wheels which share almost the same specs than the wheels originally fitted:

6x15"
5x100
but ET38 instead of ET37 (not a big deal, really)

I have 4 Dunlop Winter Sport M3 mounted (standard size, 175-60 R15 H)

You may find these wheels on german forums or on eBay as well, since many A3 owners tend to fit 17" wheels in place of these. Mines are like new.

I told with a tyres' seller and he suggested me to adopt 5.5" x 15" rims for the winther tyres instead of 5" x 15 ". According to him, tyres like 155/65R15 work better with a widther rim because the cross section's shape of the tyre is less trapezoidal. And regarding that, he suggested me to looking for 5.5" x 15" rims as those mounted on the new VW FOX, new VW POLO, new SEAT IBIZA e VW GOLF IV.
However I have checked in the e-bay german site and I have found two bargains: rims (5.5" x 15") and tyres (Michelin Alpine and Continental, respectively). Further a e-bay shop exists and sells rims 33 euro/piece.
Greetings
