Which water pump?

My 2002 AMF has chassis number
WAUZZZ8ZX2N035555

Most water pump listings state from
8Z-3-000001 for 045 121 011F/H/D

Can anyone clarify which genuine part number will fit mine?

Cheers

Further investigation for earlier chassis numbers points to
045 121 011 B
Confusing as some pumps are listed for both part numbers
Appreciate if anyone can confirm from experience if this is true?
Also what make are folks fitting?

Cheers

I think my (Jan 2001 AMF) replacement from TPS was around £25 exchange for a genuine Audi pump, I can check part number in the morning if you need it.

Keith.

New one was metal old one was plastic.

Many thanks, The part number for the assembly is on the body of the pump about 12 oclock position. Imagine they will have the same sprocket?

This was the only photo showing number had to exchange with TPS & they had to keep box!

Yes, and? Doesn't mean it's not true.

I'll refer you to the pictures here: https://a2-freun.de/forum/forums/topic/38252-unterschiedliche-wasserpumpen-14-tdi/ and the discussion afterwards. Specifically about metal vs plastic and the space for the gasket versus none.

Do yourself the favour and believe that someone on the internet actually knows what they're talking about and is prepared to back it up.

Was never very good at German (Deutsch) at school sadly, however genuine pumps for the PD afaik NEVER came with a metal impeller so what is the difference? Does that article state a later pump was fitted to an earlier engine??

The specifics from that conversation are about the space for the gasket or not in the moulding and therefore a different gasket cross-section. A selection box of replacement parts (from Conti, Bosch, SKF, and other tier 1 suppliers) bring about a mixture of impellers in different material. My own previous was a metal impeller, this current one is too, I believe: this one is a Conti kit. VW's OEM kit for the 1.6 is here: https://shop.ahw-shop.de/zahnriemen...1.6-komplettsatz-zahnriemenwechsel-036198119c and the TDI here: https://shop.ahw-shop.de/zahnriemen...original-vw-audi-zahnriemenwechsel-038198119a. For many of the pumps, the pictures don't tell much.
Yes, they are interchangeable.

Price direct from Audi should be around €70 for petrols and €75 for TDIs.

As it happens i have already bought a while ago
045 121 011 HX (genuine pump)
Not sure what made me check but there is where the confusion started!
Euros for example list 2 depending on chassis with the earlier one only £6.50 for a Circoli one but not sure i trust the brand as always fitted genuine or SKF and have seen bad reviews of Airtex too.....

If you use a pump with a metal impeller, always check your anti-freeze before winter. If the anti-freeze actually freezes, the metal impeller may cause the belt to break whereas a plastic impeller will just shear.

Good advice!
I have always fitted them with plastic ones and kept good concentration of anti freeze
