Who to go to to re-map a 1.4TDi

Hi all
Nominations please for who is recommended for re-mapping the 1.4TDi 75? I've used MRC in the past, but not sure I fancy the trip to Banbury this time? I'm based in SW London, anyone relatively local to them?

What should we expect to pay? What gains should be expected in real-world driving (speed and economy)?

Cheers
Dan

No experience on the A2 but am planing to go to AMD for my Leon Cupra R in the near future after hearing so many good reports...

Hi - I used Jabbasport near Peterborough for my TDI 75 and they produced excellent results on my car.

Engine power:
Pre remap = 61kW (81.8hp)
Post remap = 88.4kW (118.6hp)

Wheel power:
Post remap = 79.9kW (107.2hp)

Torque:
Pre remap = 200Nm @ 2830 rpm
Post remap = 253.6Nm @ 3060 rpm

Check them out at http://www.jabbasport.com/

Cheers for all the suggestions, they do all seem a bit of a trek from West London but if that's what it takes... Anyone had any experience with a Revo re-map?

I had heard rumours that AmD had gone down the pan, is that true?

Have found the Revo website, they claim 109bhp and 182lb/ft torque for the PD75. They have a franchise in Surrey called "Mega4" anyone heard of them/used them?

Hi Dan
Most of the Revo dealers don't have a rolling road so there is no before and after power curve and a slight risk your car may not be 100% before the remap (Stealth found one club members car had a cracked aftercooler) I've also heard that Stealth may do a few dyno runs to optimise the settings.
I suspect that many of the reputable remaps (including Revo) use common software so its the attention to detail and A2 expertise which makes Stealth stand out from the rest.
Awesome GTi is another company worth considering but that is even further away from you.

Cheers Spike

Just a quick question - what sort of price would you expect to pay for a remap on an A2 these days? I'm guessing around the £300 mark is reasonable?

Interesting - seems AmD got bought out by Mega4 back in Feb 2007, so Revo and AmD are now closely linked.

I've just booked in a re-map with Mega4, see how it goes, should be good.

Well, got the re-map done by Mega4 - they're agents for AmD and Revo now - if anyone's going to GTi International this weekend they'll be there.

Anyway, just to say it all went very smoothly and first impressions are of a much more lively engine all round. They've advised it'll take a few days for the ECU to adapt to the new settings until I see the maximum performance and improved economy.

Re-maps are great.

Any numbers comparing pre and post remap performance? Only then can you assess how cost effective yours is compared to the rest out there.

I don't have pre-and post- map power figures as they mapped it on the road on the fly and not on a rolling road, but the improvement in performance is quite clearly there. Chasing big BHP on a rolling road doesn't always translate to driveability, or reliability!

Having said the above, Revo's map claims 109bhp and 182lb/ft - it certainly has got a lot more pull, which is sustained all the way to the redline. Very happy with the results.
