hey dudes...

in america you can get this film stuff to tint your windows...

cost is usually 10 to 50 dollars which is pretty cheap...

i just need someting simple to shade the babies that will be going in the back seat but i don't want to get the Winnie the Pooh sun shades as they will cramp my style...

the wife won't appreciate a £600 professional window tinting package so i'm trying to track down some cheaper alternatives...

i might have to bring some window tinting film back from america! heh heh...

All I would say about window film is be careful, as I've heard some horror stories about that stuff! It can also end up looking seriously cheap if your not careful, as there's a lot of cowboys out there doing this stuff, this is why the real deal is so expensive!!

Goodluck, if you do get it done put the photo's up.

Yep, deterring thieves is a nice reason. Albeit that a good insurance might cost the same as the tinting (? - no experience)

Here in the Netherlands it is forbidden to tint the front driver and passenger windows. You can do the rear end, but that just looks as if you're driving a company bus that has to be that way to enjoy lower taxes ;) (Dutch rules again).

As for DIY: I tinted the windows of my own house (yes, my house!) with heat-reflecting stuff. Those windows are straight, flat and well accessible. But even then, you still get air caught behind it, no matter how hard you try. And every little speck of dust also ends up as an ugly spot. I'm happy with my results, for these windows, but I'd never do that to my car windows.

Good luck,

ok, yeah i understand how nice a pro dude can do the windows...

but i'm up against £8 Winnie the Pooh sun screens so its got to be cheap... heh heh...

i have seen decent home instals in america and this may be a factor also but they have tons of different brands and some primo stuff that is steal pretty cheap...

i guess i'll expirement with some film i'll bring back on my next trip...

i looked on the Halford's web site for window tinting film and couldn't find any so was curious if you could even get the stuff here...

will give Halfords a call in the morning...

thanks for everyone's feedback!
