I have Auto Glass coming round this evening to fit a new windscreen for me,, just wondering if there is anything I should look out for or make sure is or is not done..

Cheers..

I have had the windscreen replaced twice :( the things to check are:-
1, Damage on the front wings - the lower corners of the screen only just miss.
2, Damage to the bonnet mainly the corners as they stand it up.
3, Damage you won't see (unless you watch them) where they cut the old screen out they can scratch the paint work under the rubber screen surround and under the plastic trim that holds the washer jets.

These are quite common and I have all of the B***ARDS, you do get some sort of warenty but I didn't use it. (Losing the A2 for a few days to get it repaired and then the posibility of them NOT matching the colour wasen't worth the risk, Just got some touch-up paint and did it myself)

Make sure its the right colour and a original Audi one (the glass will have the Audi logo) also make sure they put the rear view mirror back on (it only clips on so no need to align anything just twist)

I should only take 1.5 hours and will need two people to lift the screen in to position and finaly you can't drive it for at least 1 hour after its fitted.

Bonnet shold be laid fat on a blanket (or similar) - make sure they do not damage any of the componente on the underside of the bonnet.
Check they have all the rubber seals around the ourside of the screen are refitted correctly .
Check the wiper is correctly positioned.

Keep an eye on them!

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

ANyone know how much one of these costs? I have had a cat slide down from the roof and I now have a series of scratches down the windscreen[29]and was wondering what replacement cost is.

Okay job done,, the guy was cool and seemed to know what he was doing.

Took him 35mins,, he took care of all of the above points,, it gave me a chance to look around the engine bay as well.

Cost wise, I was quoted between £185 and £250 but as this is my company car the leasing company picked up the bill.

Well I have just looked at the invoice and the final bill was £398,, hang on,, who is ripping off who,, thank goodness I pay my £8 per month for the maintanance contract.. wow £400 big ones for a replacement..

If this was a non insurance job would they be trying to charge individuals that kind of money,, surely not..

Cats sliding down the screen - now that sounds familiar. Luckily it's only a very feint scratch. Is it me or do these windscreens scratch really easily. To be sure, if the screen has misted up during the night I pour water over it to get rid of any dust/grit before using the wash/wipe.
