Most pi$$ed off after a little sh!te hurled a gobstopper & smashed our windscreen last night.

My question is, is there anything special that the windscreen fitter needs to look out for when removing/replacing, as there's every possiblilty he hasn't done an A2 before.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

From previous experience (2 occasions). The fitter will scratch the paint work under the edges of the window as he needs to cut the old screen out, however he should cover the area with clear paint to protect it (they did the second time). Fitting the screen is a 2 man job and its very tight on the lower corners so watch out for nic's on the wings.

Check they have the correct colour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not specific to the A2, but to all windscreen fitters:

- watch them fit the windscreen as they are less likely to scratch your paintwork
- check they bond the screen in, you'll be amased how much wind noise you get if they forget to do this ;)

Best of luck.

Mine is done two weeks ago bu Autotaalglas in the netherlands.
I was amazed how smooth it went, the car was done in two hours. Not a scratch on the paint, no leaks, nothing.

Hi Rob
Just check if the damage is below a £1 coin size. If it is it is repairable and you are welcome to call me for personal advice.07836 709244( I own a company that Invented this technology) If it is too large then the advice already posted is good . But try not to let a monkey from a large firm do it. Dont let glass down the heater matrix and watch them do it. Get a genuine screen if poss as the fit will be better cos it is a tight fit.
Regards David

Thanks to everyone.
The screen is smashed down the lower drivers side (about as low as you can go - any lower and we'd be looking at bonnet repairs instead). It also has several large cracks spreading from the impact zone.

Unfortunately, I'm not gonna be around today while the new one is fitted but the wife has been informed to make her presence known during the fitting, keeping an eye out for all the things mentioned above.

Ask for a small hole to be drilled in the new screen, ready for mounting of gun to get the next little s**t that tries it on.....

Living right next door to a social club has its benefits but the downside is all the youngsters hanging around.
I'll be installing CCTV in the next couple of weeks to try and ward off this problem in the future.

The new screen was fitted by Autoglass with no problems at all - he'd done some A2's before.

Refer to Club photos forum for my 'incident' with the (late) pheasant. This was my third windscreen - others had been due to cracks from stone impacts close to edge of screen - within 1 inch - and Nº3 also had to be replaced subsequently for same reason . All over eighteen months and all done through the local Audi agents Listers-Straford-on-Avon and not a mark or scratch to be seen. PS they need it for several hours to enable the bonding to 'set'.
