Wiper arm refurbishment.

I have recently purchased an A2 and noticed the elaborate wiper arm is looking pretty tired, with white corrosion and rust.
Do these come apart easily, so I could get the main parts powder coated? Are there any worn parts that can be replaced or would it be cheaper in the long run just to buy a new one?
Thanks
laurie

@depronman rebuilds them properly with better than original bearings materials etc for a lot less than a new from Audi price.

give it a few days, many A2oc members are on tour on the A2oc trip in Scotland at the moment.

Your A2 dates back to 2001, so if the wiper arm is original it will be the old style. Far better to update to the newer aero arm, which works far better.
You can order a new arm here: https://cars245.co.uk/item/audi-volkswagen-8Z2955407C-wiper-arm/
And the 30" aero wiper blade here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-...TWIN-Windscreen-Flat-Wiper-Blade/292834228812
There's a guide for the conversion here: https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/fitting-audi-2003-floppy-wiper-conversion.3420/
I strongly recommend the Bosch branded wiper blade, as it keeps the wiper arm further from the screen than most other brands.

I will refurbish either style of wiper arm, this includes stripping it down, reaming the end bushing back to round and making custom made stainless steel pins, then re assembly and finish with a couple of coats of gloss or satin black paint
I also for a 3D printed cover for the aero wiper arm assy
The refurb is £30 plus return postage (normally £7) if you want the cover also for the aero wiper arm this is an additional £10
The cover helps to keep the water out of the pivots, plus the stainless steel pins don't rust, so the refurbished ones wil last a lot longer than a new one and at much less cost.
However I do agree that if you have the older style wiper assy that the newer Aero wiper assy does a better job

Drop me a PM if you want to go ahead, I can normally do a refurb over a weekend if I get it Friday you get it posted back on the Monday

cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks, I will try to get it off over the weekend and send you a photo, just to confirm that it is the original, early item. I will probably keep it as a second car so will stick with the original style and standard blade.
Can you accept Paypal?

Thanks

I have various pullers that have worked on regular VW arms. They are only cheap ones so will take it very gently and see what happens.

undo the nut 2 turns, then pull and wiggle the arm, never fails, leaving the nut on stops it hitting you in the face when it does break free

Hi, I've ot Bosch blades but the old 2 arms wiper. Why is the single one better? Wipes in bigger angle? Thanks

Both the old and new (aero wiper) arms are 'two arm' designs.
The blade is different design between the two types of arms
The Aero wiper arm does a better job of clearing water from the screen

Cheers,
Paul

I found the Refillable Direct Fit Prevue branded Aero Blades for sale on eBay at £9.99 Delivered are just fine. They even come with 1 Refill included. I found the Refill was easy to fit into a Genuine Audi A2 Aero Blade, so bought 2 more at £5.99 Delivered and refurbished 2 more Genuine Audi A2 Aero Blades. Set up with Wiper Blades for years now !

Will get round to sending my original Aero Wiper Arm to Paul ( Depronman ) for a Refurb. eventually.
