Wiper Question

Hi all,

Prior to the Christmas day drama ( see other post) I meant to see if anyone could diagnose why suddenly our wiper stops working. It happens on any setting intermittent, slow or full speed. One day will be fine the other it will suddenly stop for a few seconds then get going again.

As the car has been at the bodyshop I have not had a chance to investigate what prob is a loose connection somewhere but just wondered if anyone could recommend a fix or had experienced the same?

2003 FSI single floppy wiper.

cheers

bad connection

i have noticed mine has had an earth connection added from the motor body to the vehicle body by a previous owner/garage maybe this will cure it. its worth a try for what it will cost you.

I had this happen whilst my car was still under warranty so I took it to the stealers and suggested they look at the relay. First they changed the switchgear on the steering column - nothing - still the same. Then they changed the wiper motor - nothing - still the same. Then they changed the whole wiring loom and a load of connectors. Again - all to no avail. Finally they changed the relay and hey presto - sorted. I suggested that it may have been that to start with, but would they listen to me? Nooo... Still... None of it cost me anything and I got a couple of nice courtesy cars to use. Stealers eh?? Talk about make work for themselves.. oh yeah.. I forgot.... That's the idea... that lot would have probably cost me over £1k if I had had to pay for it, but the scary part was that the "technician" had given it the Audi, "that's definitely sorted now mate" seal of approval every time they changed a very expensive bit. What a laugh !!

So... Maybe worth looking at the relay or control unit whatever it is ??
